There seems to be more and more deadbeats on ebay this summer I have had to send 3 non paying bidder notices to ebay this week. Is anyone else having the same problem?

i had my first this week. my first negative as well, a retalitory negative at that. this person never emailed me or paid after multiple reminders. i gave them a negative and i get an email from them stateing i never responded to their emails and im the one with issues and how they hope the negative theyre going to give me doesnt ruin my pretty lil numbers.
funny how i finally receive an email AFTER i gave a negative but all the other supposed emails i never got. just makes me realize how comfortable people are with lieng these days.
I filed 4 Final Value Credits this week. I look at some of the deadbeat bidders' feedback, and they have paid for other current auctions, but not for mine. I don't understand why they simply ignore all the emails I send them, especially the Non Paying Bidder alert email from Ebay. Very strange. I negged the 4 deadbeats, and I'm expecting some retaliatory feedback sent back to me. Oh well.

I will go all the way thru the eBay non paying bidder process before leaving a Neg at least that way eBay will have a record of the email if I get a retalitory Neg.

I'm 99% deadbeats-free. Of course I sell Bibles. ( just kidding on that part ). Actually I only have about 1 deadbeat per 100 auctions on eBay compared to about 1 deadbeat out of 12 on Yahoo. If you think there are a lot of deadbeats on eBay try some of the other sites. Holy smokes.

I've mentioned this on another link. It seems that since 9/11 I've rec'd more deadbeats.
Also there is a whole new crop of bidders who don't feel the need to send an e-mail... not even to tell you their payment is late but on its way. What is odd is that they can't find the time to respond to an e-mail until you file for NPB. All of a sudden they want to know why you filed a NPB. I am frustrated and am only posting new auctions as I feel like it.

It continues to amaze me why people bid on something and never follow through...Why bid?...Anyway, I never leave negative feedback because I have over 300 positives and no negs and want to keep it that way, and I know one jerk would give me a neg just to pi** me off...I go through the Ebay hupla and hope it scares them into paying, and if not I forget it...

I don't have aol, but the seller/bidder might.
That's why I send an eoa through my launcher's web site, a 3-day reminder from ebay, and one from my own e-mail. As another attempt, I sometimes go through "ask seller a question" or the similar function that allows you to contact another ebayer. I forget what that is called.
I do not rush to give a neg just in case of computer failure on their part. For example: after we signed up with Roadrunner, they gave me many cardiacs with sudden and frequent down times. If my hubby wasn't a computer whiz, we would have been late to pay and late to send eoa's.
Even so, there is an increase in the number of people who simply do not see the need to communicate, period. I don't expect them to be chatty, but I since I keep them up to date on what I'm doing, I would like them to keep me up to date. I always give them the benefit of the doubt and remain friendly.
This new stress plus the Priority Mail rate increase is causing me to slow my sales and reconsider how and what to sell. I will definitely restrict it to what I know sells well. You would think the USPS would be enjoying the increase in $ from eBay sales? My P.O. doesn't like eBayers, but puts a friendly face on it. I discovered a local UPS counter recently. Ah, well, that's in another thread!
I only leave a neg after I'm sure I'm being stiffed and it's not something else. I guess I'm hoping that if my PC dies or I accidently delete my e-mails (it happened once), the buyer/seller will give me a last chance to make it right. Do they call that Serendipity?

USPS has good reasons why not to like ebay sellers-lots of breakage and squabbles between buyer and seller.
usps is overloaded with claims and reports of fraud.
not to mention using their supply for non usps priority shipping-tape,boxes,labels

I too have had a lot more dead beats, 9 in the last couple of weeks. I mostly sell craft books, and several of the non-payers were old customers, 2 of whom are now non-registered with several recent negs, but a lot of positive feedbacks. It really makes me wonder what happened, the items were mostly under $5.

ME TOO ... have had more than my fair share of deadbeat bidders over the past month and most items were not expensive at all !!
Most in a month after 3 years of selling on ebay
The buyers won't even return my many emails or ebays reminder to pay seller!
A couple did finally send payment way late but never emailed me .. at least I still had the item and didn't go ahead and relist right away

I had one lady who never sent any kind of responce after 3 weeks I got a email from her family saying she was in the hospital very ill. I sent her my prayers and told them I would consider the transaction canceled no Neg Nuteral or any thing. That her case was understandable.

Maybe what we should do is report most of these deadbeats to the 3 major credit reporting agencys. these auctions are supposed to be legal binding contracts.

wwtraders1,
I like your idea about reporting deadbeats to the credit reporting companies. Maybe someone can come up with a good procedure to do that.

I don't think it is just eBay. I sell on a niche site too and the dead beats are on the rise there too. I sell equestrian equipment which has been pretty much dead beat proof until this year. Now I get all kinds of stories about how the horse threw them and they were in the hospital for weeks, etc. and still no payment arrives.

HOW MANY NON PAYING AUCTIONS DOES A ?BUYER. HAVE TO GET BEFORE HE IS NARUED AND HOW MANY DAYS DOES IT TAKE FOR E BAY TO MAKE IT PUBLIC? NO LONGER A REGISTERED USER?

A bidder who gets three FVF reports from three different sellers will be NARUd. The NPB letter doesn't hurt the buyer, when ebay has to refund fees, that does it, but it can't be three auctions from one seller, it has to be three different sellers.
Negative feedback when it hits -4 can be NARUd also, but most deadbeats have enough positives to offset this happening.
