Thanks for the warning, JACK. All these fakers should hang by their toes until all their money falls out of their pockets, hm?

Hey, that reminds me. A judge passed this punishment on a thief. All the victims were allowed to go through his home and take anything and everything they wanted, regardless of what it was. The judge wanted the thief to know how it felt to be violated and feel helpless.

Reverse theft. Doesn't it sound nice???

As a newbie to all this, I find this quite alarming. I just started selling and I am wondering if I should even use paypal as a payment option? Are there problems with this kind of thing often? I hope that Paypal is listening....this is serious business and hope it is treated as such or I am going to rethink this as a payment method. They do make money from this, so if they were hit in the pocketbook, maybe they would change a few things. Just a thought...

Hi JACKSWEBB

I received a couple of these emails, from that same sender. I forwarded one of them to [email protected]

I did click on the funky link they had, and it goes to 'Page not found' but the guy is still sending these emails

So your not the only one

Oh and as Paypal always says, if it is from them, it would have an https not just http, as I guess the 's' means secure

WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS WHY PAY PAL HAS NOT RESPONDED TO THIS THREAD. I HAVE BASICALLY YELLED THEIR NAME OUT IN THE TITLE. SEEMS SOMEONE THERE WOULD HAVE NOTICED IT BY NOW AND ADDRESSED THIS SITUATION TO CALM US DOWN.

I PERSONALLY AM TERRIFIED SOMEONE MAY BE ABLE TO DIVERT $1000.00'S OF MINE AND "YOUR" DOLLARS. I WOULD THINK SOME REASSURANCE WOULD BE IN ORDER HERE. Hmmmmm, PERHAPS,,,,,,,,NO I WON'T. HAHAHAHHA.

RUNNING OVER TO EMPTY MY ACCOUNT RIGHT NOW!!!! I WON'T BE LEAVING SIZABLE "PAY PAL" INTEREST BEARING AMOUNTS IN THERE ANY LONGER. $20.00 MAX. NOT THE USUAL $300.00 TO $500.00. WOW CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW MUCH INTEREST THEY MAKE OFF THOSE AMOUNTS. YOU WOULD CERTAINLY THINK THEY WOULD HAVE MORE CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. OFF TO CLEAN OUT MY ACCOUNT BEFORE,,,,,,,,,,,

Hi JACKSWEBB

I did get a response from Damon at Paypal, and he said he appreciated the heads up on it, they had the site shut down, but these emails are still going around... for what purpose, he didn't know, and I can't figure out.

I suppose if this guy keeps emailing (I got 2 so far) can try to turn him to AOL? I don't know.

But Damon did reply to me forwarding this scam thing to him, he is pretty good at getting back to you.

I recieved the same emails from two different users this week. I have turned them in to paypal through security. That word "security" makes me nervous. They may be getting names off our ebay ads. Thats easy enough to do. My emails say something about a feedback form I filled out? I have no clue what the fraudsters are talking about, I would just like to stomp their gestapo asses.

I think they get e-mail addys two ways: they get the e-mail addresses of people who have PayPal logos on their auctions, and they probably buy e-mail lists and just spam the hades out everyone on it, knowing they'll get a couple of suckers before their site gets shut down.

Jack, It is easy to find out about your PayPal. Just look at one of your auctions, Does it say "I accept PayPal?" Makes sense to me.

Interesting that I just received a 2 page letter (email) from PayPal informing me as to how they handle private information & how they screen customers etc. One thing they say is"Do not give your password to anyone." So, it is very obvious that theis indvidual was trying to scam you.

URGENT: PayPal Account Update

Kind of ironic...just rec'd. this email tonight and it is really a good fake.

Here goes:

URGENT: PayPal System Problems

Dear PayPal User,

Last night we had some trouble with one of our computer systems. While the trouble appears to be minor, we are not taking any chances. We decided to take the troubled system offline and replace it with a new system. Unfortunately this caused us to lose some member data. Because of the inconvenience this causes we are giving all users that repair their missing data their next two incoming transfers for free! You will pay no fees for your next two incoming transfers*.

Thank you for using PayPal!
