I happened to notice that this seller (who happens to be selling the same item I am) has a direct link to her website in this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1357354447

And in this auction, she has her website URL (along with pic advertisements of what she's selling on her website), and even says to copy and paste this URL to go to her website to buy this stuff:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1358062163

Aren't both of these in violation of Ebay's rules? Please let me know, and what's the best method of reporting this to Ebay. Thanks in advance.

Make sure you copy the auction number down. It is not so easy to do any more. But you need to click on Safeharbor at the bottom of a ebay page. Then click on items that may be not allowed on Ebay. Then scroll down to contact rules & safety. Then follow the form. Eventually, you will have to put in the auction #. The bad thing is you will have to do it on every auction. The big problem is most likely nothing will happen. I have turned in many violators with worse infractions and nothing has been done. Now that you don't get a live person, nothing happens. Sorry to here that this person is selling the same thing as you and getting away with those violations. You may get lucky and have them removed, but don't get your hopes up. Ebay support is now non-existant.

I have noticed this a lot too. I have reported these types of listings to Safe Harbor. They do absolutely nothing. I am sure though that if I were to do it though, Safe Harbor would be all over me. Ebay only seems to enforce it's own rules when they feel like it.

My husband says he sees a lot of this also, but I am like you, I am sure if I tried it, I'd get caught right off the bat!

Hurray! Ebay did take this one off.

And in this auction, she has her website URL (along with pic advertisements of what she's selling on her website), and even says to copy and paste this URL to go to her website to buy this stuff:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1358062163

Very painful to the eye. Too busy, not to mention a violation to eBay's link policy.

If I didn't hate jumping through hoops so much, I'd have a good mind turing them in. However, I't simply not worth the effort.

I used to see in the location line that you type your city into where people were putting URL's to their websites.

I had seen it so often at that time (around February) and since the URL wasn't in the description and it wasn't coded as an OUTSIDE LINK it seemed like an easy way to slip it in under Big Brother's nose.

So I thought.......hmmmmm maybe I'll try that too.

Well folks.........

All 150 AUCTIONS WERE SHUT DOWN BY EBAY.

All it takes is one competitor to report you in and a quick scan by big brother will shut all of your auctions down.

In summary..........DON'T DO IT!!

It was quite embarrasing as many of those auctions had bids.

The emails the bidders got from Ebay were rather ugly basically saying This auction has been shut down for violation of Ebay's TOS. You are under no obligation to pay for this item.

It really is not worth the risk.......
