Does anyone else have problems with e-mail to aol users bouncing back with 550 user unknown -- mailbox not found" This is not the first time this has happened and I even tried having e-bay mail from their server with the "mail this auction to a friend" It also bounced back to me. Is this something that occurs in the evenings or what? Wonder why they spend so much time on advertising when they could spend the money better on improving the service they are supposed to provide.

I get this when the winning bidder changes their e-mail address. Give it a couple of days to see if they contact you. If not, do the normal steps on a NPB and move on.
Good luck

This sounds like a changed address rather than a block, or "filter" as aol calls it. In the event of a filter (in my experiencce), the email doesn't bounce back - it appears to go through (and does, in a way). Sad part is, usually the receivers argue that they don't have filters on their email. (I've had this happen a few times.) But if you go through eBay it will get through the filter. You might want to contact eBay...they will get it corrected or kick 'em off.
