They have the new labels up at the USPS site where we get our free delivery confirmation (dc) Priority Mail Labels. These will be the only ones available starting 7/1/02.
Am I reading that right; will we now need to imput the package weight in pounds and ounces to get the free dc?

Technerd, I just used it Sat., and estimated the weights. I remember seeing a note that if the package weighed more than the weight you put in, extra postage fees might apply. You have the right to an informed opinion -Harlan Ellison

Yes, you will need to determine how much an item weighs in order to ship it with free DC. That has always been the case with the Shipping Assistant software.
This is probably an extra quality assurance test to prevent an increase in the number of folks who have been "scamming" the post office on postage.
With the new rates, USPS is going to be under the gun to make sure that they get every penny.
Spot checks - especially with all of the information they are collecting - will not be out of the question.
Since they know who you are, they could come a calling for the missing postage.

I don't see the point of all this. The PO is still going to weigh my packages and charge accordingly at the counter.

I just came back from that website. Do I really have to download that JAVA in order to get a Priority Label? Oh just more time to do a package. Nothing is easy anymore.

zzyzx000,
I believe this is for the people that print postage from their computers. Then have the post office pick up the parcels at their door. I may be wrong, but I think that is what this thread is about.
