I posted an auction and checked that I wanted it to be a private auction. That doesn't show up anywhere in the auction itself. Will the private symbol not show up until someone bids? I have had some emails from people who want to purchase it off line because they don't want their ID shown in the auction. I've searched ebay, and can't find information on private auctions. Anyone use them?

I have looked at some private auctions before. Where the bidders id is usually listed, it will say private there. If you look at the bid history it will say private also. no ids are listed for bidders.

Will it say private even before it gets any bids? Mine doesn't right now, but it doens't have any bids. I have tried to look at other peoples auctions that I thought may be private, and couldn't find anything marked there either (without bids)

i recently won a private auction, so i went back and checked some of his other auctions which i do know are all private. i checked the ones without bids and it doesnt state anything about it being private. so im assuming it doesnt state it until a bid is placed.

Thanks for the information. I just put in bold in the description that it's a private auction. Hopefully that will help not to scare people off.
