I now have 26 deadbeats on my blocked bidders list. I'm sick to death of it. On my last auction, bidder ended it with BIN, then fell off the face of the earth. Took me 2 days to update and rework the ad. Relisted it, ran up higher than first time! Yippee! Uh oh. Another bidder falls off face of the earth. If you see smoke, it is from me sitting here fuming and wanting heads to roll big time. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it was the same person or a friend who bid on the relisted item.
Where's the terminator when you need him.
Maybe it's just me, but before 9/11 things were positively wonderful. Now it's one jerk after another.

There has been a significant increase in deadbeat bidders in the recent past, but I lay it at the feet of the ebay marketing and promotion people.
They seem to specialize in promotions that attract the wrong kinds of people. They have a co-promotion going right now with Burger King, and their customers are most certainly not my ideal prospects.
They also engaged in some failed on-line points programs in which people would bid to get points redeemable for cash. Many bid with no intention of paying, and continue to bid since it is so much "fun".
Ebay's checkout also confuses people. They think if they don't check out, they haven't actually bought. Even if they win, they leave the shopping cart in front of the "checkout" and walk away.
Ebay has little insight into what is going on, and continues to do "corporate" promotions instead of "effective" promotions. And we suffer the deadbeats.

if you sell the same item over and over again, some may see no incentive of sending payment anytime soon.
or if they find someone else selling the same item for less, they will go for that.
