Once again, I'm calling on the AW "experts" for help. This lovely little bowl (stands 3 inches high and is about 5 inches in diameter) is, maybe, hobnail? The "hobs", however, are round and opalescent. Can anyone help in identifying it...date, maker, any other helpful info? Thanks for any help.

It's "Moonstone" made by Hocking. Not really a "Depression" pattern, it is in the "40's, 50's, 60's" category. The pattern was made in the 40's. This is the puffbox.

Thanks, Katy...I'll check it out. Since you seem to know what you're talking about...any idea as to approximate auction value? Thanks again...appreciate your taking the time to help!

In my copyright 1998, Collectible Glassware From The 40's, 50's and 60's, book on this piece is $25.00. Figure a collector who really needs this to complete their collection will pay book or higher; dealers will pay much less. Book is probably higher now, but not by much. Good luck.

Thanks...I'll give it a go and see what happens. I still have dreams of wandering into a garage sale and finding that "long lost" treasure that collectors have been searching in vain for! Like that guy on "Antiques Roadshow" last week who found the 20th copy of that WWI poster! I guess, for now, my dreams of "zillions" will have to be put on hold.

blueyes, Mauzy books it at $30. But that's a "show" price. Still, while Moonstone isn't one of the higher priced glass patterns, it is a popular one. Maybe because it is so reasonable..? If you put it on ebay, you just might be surprised to see it go at or near "book". The puffbox is not one of the easier Moonstone pieces to come by.
