Trippy checks all of our accounts on a daily basis. Yesterday, he found we had three transactions posted to our credit card totalling over $200.00, coming through as a temporary authorization as our eBay transfers first appear. We only have this credit card for PayPal, AuctionWatch and eBay purposes. No activity on PayPal or AW. They all occurred on one day. We cancelled the credit card. Just in case you don't check your CC account regularly, there is something fishy going on looking like it's on the eBay end!

There are so many horror stories out there I sure hope you can straighten this out. If the charges are temporary does that mean if you cancell your card they are null and void.
Yesterday I went and changed my PayPal checking account so that my main checking isn't hooked to PayPal. I bank where there is free checking and I wondered what I could do so that my money in my checking account couldn't be either withdrawn or frozen. Well the nice lady at the bank and I came up with another free checking account only for paypal withdrawls. Once that withdrawl gets into that account I can take it out and put it in my main one. Now I feel better. I wish we could pay ebay fees and AW fees with PayPal. That would make it so much easier.
Good Luck.

Libra-

Are both accounts in the same bank?

If the answer is yes, then if your papal checking is ever overdrawn the bank will move on to your other accounts and withdraw money from them to cover any amount due.

Separate accounts in the same bank gives you no protection, all accounts are connected.

We have several checking accounts with the same bank. We have overdrawn one of them upon occasion and the bank has NEVER taken money out of another account to cover the overdraft. I have a seperate account for receiving PayPal, Billpoint, and c2it payments and the bank assured me that this was the correct way to do this after I explained to them what I wanted. I don't know if this varies by state or if this is a Federal thing.

I only use PayPal to collect funds. I don't use it to buy. So I won't be overdrawn on my account. I will have to check into that. But from what I gathered from the Customer Service person when we had our conversation that non of the accounts at that bank are connected. Separate papers have to be filled out for both accounts. I am going to call them Monday.

bank cannot use one account to cover another account unless you want it that way.
some folks hookup their saving account with their checking account but you have to request this feature.

Libra, you can use paypal to pay both ebay and AW. that is the account i use for both. if my paypal is short when the ebay bill is due, then i make a one time payment with my credit card.

when i first joined paypal i started a bank account just for the paypal purpose. withdraw from paypal account and withdraw from bank account shortly after the deposit is there. i keep a low limit credit card just for internet use. and i never leave more than a few dollars in my paypal account.

so far, these guidelines have kept me problem free as far as paypal goes. i hope it continues that way.

SOME folks move money from bank account to their paypal accounts so they can spend it with the paypal debit card and get the 1 1/2% cash discount.
it works well for big ticket item ,of course you want to buy from reputable vendors .
i did that with a plane ticket and save 12 dollars.

greatlakes you are definitely wrong in your thinking here. bank accounts are not connected.

unless you have overdraft protection, try overdrawing your checking account. if you think your savings account or any other account will be used as a backup, you are dead wrong!!!!!
