Mail service getting back to normal
Ottawa - Canada Post began to move lettermail by commercial aircraft today as service starts to return to normal following the tragedy last week in the United States. However customers in smaller centres may experience minor delays due to conditions imposed by Transport Canada.
The majority of Priority Courier and Xpresspost items are moving normally between major centres.
Canada Post plans to resume moving mail to the United States by air as soon as possible. Mail for international destinations, other than the U.S., is back to normal with a one-day delay for a small percentage of the mail due to imposed restrictions.
"We are working with the airlines to resolve the remaining service issues," said Jean Bénard, general manager, Logistics and Processing Strategies for Canada Post. "Most of the mail travelling in Canada is moving well and we have resumed the bulk of our normal operation."
Unfortunately, Canada Post is still not able to offer an on-time guarantee delivery on some of its products until normal operating conditions resume.
