Well, my last set of auctions ended tonight. Out of 7 auctions listed, 3 ended with bids. The auctions that ended with bids closed for about 50% of the closing price I would normally have expected. Doesn't seem worth listing more auctions for now, so I'll try to wait it out until this AFA fiasco has run its course. Hope some of you are having better results than I am!

poor poor kristie
i wonder how you will feel when we are deep in the midst of an all out war, when terrorism rapes the country on a regular baisis...how are you going to feel in 3 months or 4 or even next year at this time when we will all know what war is really all about, when we have experienced it in our own backyards......................................... all the A4A bashing/whining shows how unprepared for reality folks are.

poor, poor sparkafatty....

Those who call this "whining" over the A4A auctions obviously don't depend on their ebay sales to pay their bills. There is a HUGE number of Ebay sellers who depend on their Ebay sales to pay their bills and put food on their table.

Perhaps you should walk a mile in their shoes right now before judging them.

My auctions so far have been doing very well.

I think it depends on what you are trying to sell.....

dman is right...

In the category I mainly sell in, there are over 222,000 auctions on ebay and only a little over 1,000 on A4A. However, it's hurt my sales a little, but the bids are still coming in slowly but surely.

Sparkafatty, my only remark was that I'm not listing any more auctions until AFA is over. How did I come to deserve your rambling and obtuse commentary? Maybe you should reread my post.

As one who wears the shoes of a full-time seller (and walks in them regularly ), I believe the slight decrease in sell-through I'm experiencing right now has much more to do with the economy and confidence level of the buying public than any effects from A4A.

My sell-through last week was down 10%. The 80 auctions that I listed last night are doing *far* better than I expected. But the stock market was up today too, so perhaps things are looking up...

perhaps things are looking up...

Finally.

There will always be nuts in the world, and there is always a chance, however slight, that they will do something harmful to you. There is no worse threat now than there was two weeks ago, two months ago, or two years ago.

You can either worry yourself into depression and illness, or you can get on and start living your life again. It seems that lately, way too many are choosing the former.

At least it appears that today may finally mark the start of some return to normalcy.

i don't need ebay or any type job to survive. i have done quite well in several business ventures throghout my life, begining when i was 17. i currently own 10 franchise food outlets as well as several payday loan outlets.....i ebay for the fun of it, one can only play so much golf.

you need to learn a bit more about business, i suggest you work towards your high school degree and move on from there. competition is what business is all about, its not a free ride..... you will always be looking for your next buck because you lack the drive and intelligence it takes to really make it in the business world. whiners are equal failures. it is easier to whine than it is to pull up your bootstraps, dig in and fight for your piece of the pie....and remember folks, want better pizza?, better call papa johns.

sparkafatty,

I think you might look at different aspects of the A4A instead of accusing anyone objecting to it is against donations or charities.

The Salvation Army is welcome outside many store entrances. They ring their bell and people donate change on entering or exiting the store. Suppose the Salvation Army decided instead to sell Christmas Cards or Stuffed Bears at these store entrances in an effort to raise donations. How welcome do you think they'd be at the entrance to many of these stores then?

I know this is (kinda) off topic, but the very LAST place I'd look for better pizza is at Papa John's.

On topic, as a perspective seller, I sure am glad I have you folks as a resource - guess I'll cool my heels and start my listings when the tables start turning

"several payday loan outfits" ????

Aren't those the places that "advance" you $50.00 and you end up owing $500.00?

OH please let me grow up and be a successful businessperson LIKE THAT!

Sparkafatty,

Over the course of my life I've tend to find that people who have to brag about all that they have usually are the people who don't have it....

Just a thought.

Forgive me for taking so long to respond! I was laughing at the fact that I was told to "work on my high school degree" from someone who can't even use correct grammar in a single sentence.
