Just wanted to post that I have gotten ebay to remove my one and only negative feedback comment! I also wanted to say thanks to whomever had a post about removing neg feedback a few days back....I went to the link, emailed ebay the situation and they found what I said to be true. I now have my perfect feedback record back again. I am very excited about this, as I have asked ebay to do some things in the past and they did not comply with my wishes. Anyway, thanks to all that posted on this subject!

Good work, not easy to do.

I looked at the negative FB you were talking about when you first asked the question about how to contact ebay to remove negative FB. I noticed it was quite awhile ago. What made you decide to remove it now & not before?

Would you be willing to give a short recap? I've got one of those, too.

RECAP: I received a negative feedback from a bidder that was unresponsive to every email I sent. I then got his contact info and his number was disconnected. Finally sent one last email stating MUST hear back or neg would be left. Again, no response. Almost 2 mos after end of auction I left him a neg. He then left me a neg comment....completely untrue. My one and only neg comment in almost 300 positive feedbacks.

Why I did nothing about it sooner: I did not know I COULD do something about it. I had emailed ebay about a comment I left mistakenly for a bidder...trying to get it removed. Ebay flat out said no. I just assumed that there was no point in trying to get it removed, that I was out of luck.

However, thanks to this board, which I have just recently begun reading, I saw a post stating something about possibly getting neg feedback removed etc if it met certain requirements. Lucky me....ebay was on my side on this one!!! I also checked this bidders feedback after seeing his neg was removed. He is no longer a registered user....apparently ebay took it into their hands to get rid of him.

So, now I have my perfect record again...soon to hit 300. Alls well that ends well.

Are you allowed/Would you mind posting the
feedback in question or at least explain its
meaning? What criteria does a neg. feedback have to meet in order for it to qualify for removal?

professorhiggins, I cannot remember exactly what it said, but something about me not ever contacting him, and "if you get a good price, don't expect to receive". The whole thing was untrue and retaliatory. I was so upset over it because it was the first time I have ever had a false comment. I was so upset I emailed him after he left the neg and explained to him how his untrue neg comment will affect me etc. He never responded, naturally, but it made me feel better.

The criteria are as follows:

Circumstances Where eBay Will Consider Removing Feedback

eBay is provided with a valid court order finding that the disputed feedback is slanderous, libelous, defamatory or otherwise illegal, or with a settlement agreement resolving such a lawsuit submitted by both attorneys and signed by both parties. eBay will also accept a ruling from a certified dispute resolution service if a signed settlement agreement, overseen by the certified dispute resolution service, is provided to eBay.

The feedback, on its face, has absolutely no connection with eBay, such as personal comments about users, or feedback related to commercial transactions that were not conducted through eBay. This includes feedback that contains any reference to another auction service, or feedback that advertises the goods or services of someone other than the user for whom the feedback was left.

The feedback that contains any link to another page, picture, or JavaScript.

The feedback contains profane or vulgar language, or adult material. Inflammatory language, such as "fraud, liar, cheater, scam artist, con man" etc. is strongly discouraged but will not be removed.

Feedback that contains personal identifying information about a user, including real name, address, phone number, or e-mail address.

Feedback that makes any reference to an eBay or law enforcement organization investigation, i.e., "eBay is investigating this person".

Feedback intended for another user will be considered for removal only in situations where the user responsible for the mistaken posting informs eBay of the error and has already placed the same feedback for the correct user.

Feedback left by a user who provided eBay with false contact information during the registration process, and cannot be contacted. eBay will also remove feedback where eBay is provided with evidence showing that it was left by a minor.

Multiple (3 or more) feedbacks left by the same user as part of a campaign to harass one or more users.

eBay may give special consideration to remove feedback upon request from members if the listing ended before the member was suspended, but the feedback was left after we reinstated the member.

I know how you feel, I have no negs, but 3 neutrals. One is an outright mistake as the FB says something like "great person to deal with" they just hit the wrong button.
Another one involves a auction where the item I was selling was cracked & I didn't notice it until I was getting ready to mail it. I emailed the buyer & sent her check back. Her neutral said "Handled problem well" so why not a positive, or better still, no feedback, who knows.
The third was because the buyer was not happy with what she bought, but never contacted me, she just left a neutral. I would have gladly refunded, all she had to do was email me.
All three of these neutrals bothered me, so I can imagine a undeserved negative really hurts, glad you got rid of it.
By the way, when looking at your feedback I also checked out your auctions & bid on one, but was soon outbid. Grandmom's House, very nice print.

mcjane, it is frustrating to have feedback, whether neutral or negative...especially when it is undeserved or the buyer simply takes it into their own hands so to speak and does not give the seller a chance to rectify a situation they are not happy with. In my email that I send to let them know I have received their money and to confirm the shipping date for them, I put in the email that if they are not satisfied with their print to please contact me before leaving feedback and that I will do whatever is necessary to leave them a happy and satisfied customer. Seems to have worked well for me so far.

I don't think a lot of bidders realize that ebay is a venue for a lot of people to make their incomes, and therefore don't realize the affect of negative feedback, or even neutral feedback. For myself, I am a stay-at-home mom of 3 children under 5 and this is my "part-time" job right now. I am proud to say that my kids have never seen the inside of a daycare, and never will. As much as ebay aggravates me at times, it does allow me to generate an income that far exceeds what I would make working part-time evening hours at Wally world. The best part is I don't have to leave my house and still help tuck my kids into bed at night.

Anyway, the reason I emailed that bidder after he left a neg for me was just to let him know my situation and lay a guilt trip perhaps? Like I said before, he never responded...and I did not expect him to.
