According to the Nielson net rating, Ebay has hauled in a mere 5 billion in sales in 2000 alone! wow huh just read this and flipped out!did you know ebay has workshops as well just plop down 25 bucks to enroll at an ebay university workshop a two day program. Ebay hosts more then 20 workshops in their ebay university to see complete list go to www.ebay.com/university. Ebay enmployees teach the workshops. They need to have a workshop now to show sellers not participating in Auctions for America how to attract bids to their dying sites unseen.Check the counters no traffic!Had heard egreed donated 1 million of their billions hauled in by those mom pop sellers who made ebay to begin with. A mere million is a mere bag of shells no?Ebay the article goes on to say is the 7th most popular web site in the united states maybe do another statistic end of September see what the reading is if still 7th?Egreed was ranked number one auction site getting almost 8 million hits during end of August 19th 2001.Besides most profitable(and no wonder why all them relsits of items not bidded on). Imagine paying 25 dollars on top of all the fees imposed to sell for a workshop to explain to you how to attract customers. How lay out them sites that have far to many graphics that you end up passing up once waiting more then a minute for all the downloads to occur.wow greed seems to prevail business as usual takes priority and all suffer have no bids due to not giving their goods to auction of America to then hand to A HIGHER ATHORITY who gets the credit and attaboy's. Got to love it..

Ebay did not have $5 billion in sales during 2000. That figure you saw was the total closing price of all the auctions, and all the sales on half.com. The company calls this its "gross merchandise sales," but that's misleading because eBay isn't really selling the items. They are selling a service that allows others to sell their merchandise.

Ebay's net revenue (the company's true sales) totalled $431 million.

Net income (the profit left after expenses) was $50 million.

eBay is one of the few internet companies to actually make money. Most of the others have sent their investors to the poorhouse. Yet eBay is criticized for being "greedy." I just don't understand it. If eBay is greedy, then aren't all the people who list auctions on the site greedy as well?

Do you sell on ebay? Ebay makes their money reguardless if you sell or not they get the listing fees so how is the seller greedy they are spending..Vist the community boards there hear their plea for things to pick up and for ebay staff to hear their cries. The many ongoing situations surrounding Auctions for America, please do this.Monopoly is the reason all display deaf ear syndrome at ebay. Perhaps if the daily listings and relistings dwindle(and they will with no bids) you can bet your going to see that 100 day Auction be reduced to 45 day or some B.S story doled out why they stopping it short..Do look forward to that day anyway. With the small percentage participating and all others displaying disgust due to no sales IF THEY ARE NOT PARTICIPANTS will be dropping drastically for all involved is common knowledge. Hang on all this concept dreamed up by the A- team WILL COME BACK TO HAUNT THEM WHERE IT HURTS MOST...THEIR POCKETS to raise a 100 million in a hundred days is A NICE CONCEPT BUT NOT REALISTIC.Soon be nobody there to list but the handful participating hope they have alot of items to list for a 100 days.Carry on our wayward sons....

Decpage - i agree with you.
We're all here trying to make the dollar. And, many are become quickly critical of the venue allowing them to do so.
Sure, eBay has many, many faults. They also have many good points.
