I have been selling on ebay for a couple years (received the red star over the weekend - yeah!). Anyway, I currently have everything (checks, money orders etc) coming to home address. I seem to have buyers telling me about "lost" checks at least once every couple weeks - sometimes more. I'm wondering if I should have all my ebay business going to a PO Box. I go to the post office to ship everyday anyway, and I guess the $40.00 a year to rent one doesn't bother me too much. Just wondering if other people made the switch and have found that they have less "lost mail".

Hi, I think it depends on your mail carriers. I started using a PO box because my home addy isn't made public and because our mail carriers are lousy here.

I am able to pick up my mail every morning at 10, instead of waiting to see if the mail person will make it before 5 or at all. My packages are not left under the mailbox to be rained on or hung from the flag with rubber bands (even a 2 lb textbook was left this way)!

I am happy. Nothing has been lost since I changed.

Hi ihula--switched to a PO Box this past June after a rash of lost payments.

No problems since (knocking on head).

It's worth the extra and I can get the payments much earlier in the am than my ususal delivery time at home.

I have been using a PO box now for 4 years. The security is the most important thing. Not advertising your home address is very important in todays world. I know it is more secure - less people handling it - and not sitting in your mailbox at home for some stranger to take it out of your box.

We have been selling on line for 6 years, and have never used anything but a P. O. Box, and I MUCH prefer it to a home address for many reasons.

Safety
Accuracy
Speed of receiving mail

I MUCH prefer a P. O. Box. I have never had a customer complain about mailing to a P. O. Box and we have had thousands of sales.

I highly recommend a P. O. Box.

I've had a box the entire time I've been on ebay (2.5yrs) and have had no mail loss problems. But the main thing, as some have already stated, is the security of NOT giving out your home address!!!
