I launched a new auction on Saturday afternoon. When I went to take a look at it on Sunday morning, it looked just fine. When I went to show it to my husband on Sunday afternoon, it was gone!! It still shows up by title when I search for it and it still says it is scheduled to end on 10/22. When I try to open the auction I get an error message that says it is no longer in the data base. I've email eBay but haven't gotten a response yet. Does anyone know what it going on? I know this message will show up if eBay has to remove your auction because it violates their policy but my auction was for a baby item so I don't think they would pull it for that reason. There wasn't anything inappropriate about it.
That's exactly what happened to one of my auctions when it was cancelled due to VeRO. I had used the word SELENA in the title, and the Selena people had it cancelled. I received an email from eBay, though, stating that it had been cancelled.
Did you list a brand name in the title? Any emails from eBay over your auction?

Thanks for your reply. I haven't received any emails from eBay regarding my auction. I did list a brand-name in my auction. It was for a First Years Elec/Bat Breast Pump. Do you think that would have caused them to cancel my auction? I've seen numerous other auctions with similar titles that listed the brand name.

I think there's an email address of [email protected] or [email protected] - you might write to them and ask 'em.

The item you listed is considered medical equipment and subject to strict conditions when listing. Among other things, you have to state in the auction that it is still in it's original carton and has all the original instructions and paperwork from the manufacturer. You can go to the Ebay page that lists prohibited and restricted items and click on "medical equipment" for the details. Your item is one that is used as a specific example. To answer your question, your auction was ended by Ebay, but you should have received an email telling you why. Have you changed your email address since you originally registered? If so, you need to update them right away.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

I looked and it definitely was cancelled. The way ebay has been running lately don't expect a reason for a while.
Two weeks ago I ran a dutch auction allowing bidders to choose between several designs of an item if they won. The designs were posted in the auction along with a number to identify each design. Ebay sent me a notice about a week after the auction ended informing me that "choice" auctions are not allowed because it confuses the buyer and they would allow the auction to run to its normal finish but to not do it again. (Mind you that was a week after the auction closed)
I wrote them back and thanked them for filling me in about the rules on "choice" auctions and stated that I was just posting my auction by example. I then gave them over 50 "choice" auctions that were currently running that were for the same type of thing I was selling.
They thanked me and said they were going to inform those sellers.
