I thought these comments from another thread deserved their own posting. Everyone request credit. Hit eBay where it hurts!

anyone who wants to request credit:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/select-support.html

This is the link for Ebay support. Click on BILLING and then OTHER ACCOUNT QUESTIONS.. then click on the link that says "I have tried instant help and still want to contact support" it will then take you to a screen. (When ebay is back up, that is!)

Enter your item numbers that were affected and tell them you want credit because ebay was down and it affected your auctions.

Has worked for me every time! Good luck!

You should absolutely ask for your listing, special feature and final value fees EVERY TIME you feel your auctions were negatively impacted by an outage, and you did not get the full service you paid for. In more cases than not, ebaY will refund your fees. If they refuse, WRITE BACK and keep writing back until they give in. IT WORKS
request a refund by going to the form at
http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?
SendSupportEmailShow&subject=Credit%20--%20How%20can
%20I%20receive%20credit%20for%20insertion%20fees%3F%20
Send -
* The item number(s) of the ended auction(s)
* The specific fee(s) charged for them
* Your seller's email address or User ID
* The phrase, GIVE CREDIT in the Subject line
This can also be accessed from
http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/select-support.html
PLEASE - IF YOU ARE DENIED REFUNDS LET US KNOW - We keep in touch with the media on these issues, and when ebaY is questioned by reporters as to why they are not giving refunds - ebaY generally backs down. If you want to do more than write - go to our website for ebaY contact info and call - and if you really want to get down to the nitty gritty, email me and I can provide you with the voice mail numbers of a couple of the VIPs. -Rosalinda

Sorry I didn't see this post last night, but I will definately write now. I had 17 more auctions ending last evening when eBay went down.

Hi,

I have not posted to this board in ages. I got burned last night fairly bad. I have put in a request for full credit of everything closing last night.

I am very interested in keeping up with other people's experience with this issue and I will definately continue to monitor this board.

My biggest item last night - a highly unique (very premium) coin, and a very popular one - closing about 25 minutes after ebay shut down - figure I lost at a minimum 10 - 15 %, maybe as high as 35% or so of what the final sale should have been - I had a few other good selling items too.

I requested all fees and commissions for everything and said I expected 100%.

Take care everyone, and stay on ebay about this.

Brad

How long was ebay down? I thought they had some unwritten rule it had to be down 3 hours to receive credit. If that isn't true, I will be sending them a nice email. They went down twice last week right before my auctions ended. I was not a happy camper.

Ebay was down about 30-45 minutes. Their rules are that they will extend auction if they are down more than 2 hours. I don't think there are any hard & fast rules about credits. The one person says about getting credit has worked for me every time., so it's definitely worth a shot. And if they don't give you credit the first time, keep pestering them. This outage cost us money!

I'd like ro thank mreinker for posting this thread. It's probably just one of eBay's usual canned responses but I followed the instructions above and received the following response, if you can believe this, within a few hours:

Hello,

Thank you for writing to the eBay billing department. I hope that I can be of some assistance.

I have submitted a credit request for all the fees associated with those
listings. Unless there is a problem, your credits should be posted to
your account within 7-10 business days.

I hope this information has helped. If you have any further questions,
please don't hesitate to write back. We appreciate your business, and
are always happy to help.

Have a great day!

Regards,

Nate L. J.

Hi,
I received basically the same reply from ebay, which also stated that ebay has been crediting listings within 24 hours of an outage. They said they would credit(within 7-10 days) all of my 10/15 listings (all were during or after the outage).

It is interesting that they leave the door open to further requests (by saying i.e. contact them with any further issues). The closer of the letter looks to me like it is intentionally written to leave open the possibility of further compensation in some cases - mine read approximately the same.

Has anyone requested any additional amounts?
