Actually eBay has been doing really good. Not that I am defending them, cuase I have some auctions going on too, and the outages really boil my blood too. But, I remember when they were going down sometimes three times a week. That went on for months. We should really be counting our blessings.

you and me both I just waited 8 months to put up an auction that I featured that is ending now that only made it to the reserve when I lasted look and I know if it wouldn't be ending when ebay was down I would have gotten a least another 150-200 from the snipers. How do you ask for a refund at least on end of auction fees? What would you do and ask Ebay for? What is they standard on things like this. If I would have known I would have waited to list. If I would have know I wouldn't have spent the money to feature it. It didn't pay because Ebay was down at the most critcal time. Trying not to fume not like that would do any good. So what would you ask ebay to do all?

Yup, down again. Clueless Ebay IT department screwed something up again.

I would count my blessings if this was some mom and pop operation.But it is not and its getting very old an tiresome.
Another featured auction messed up tonight at least I had a reserve on it.BUT I LISTED IT TOO SELL IT.
I wonder if we would be happy if our cars acted the way ebaY does.NOT so why should we have to put up with something we are paying for.
I pay 1500.00 a month in fees and I want as does everyone else my money's worth.
Sometimes I could just swear.

Took me an hour to "launch" tonight but finally got it onto e-bay at 10pm CST: then about half hour later (10:36 CST) most of e-bay systen is again down!! I feel sorry for those who missed the brief window of non-screw-ups at e-bay tonight. And boy do I hope this is not an omen for the rest of the week. Scheduled Maintenance is now double speak for "we is broken again". E-Bay moto is like the one from OZ: "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain".

It is because e-Bay * failed* over to their hot backup system.Two or so years ago, they extended auctions 24 hours when this happened but I guess they have grown too big now to worry about such matters. Perhaps bidders will start leaving decent proxies and start bidding earlier. I had one close at 6:30 tonight with over 132 hits and the first bidder( there were only two) won. I might have lost some cash but I think the winner deserves to win. Lately on non outage nights, it has been 20 minute auctions.

Now, glasshappy: I don't think they are stating that they HATE eBay, anymore than I truly believe that you are reallllly admonishing: "eBay -- Love it or Leave it!"
That said, I simply won't list auctions to end on Sundays nights, as the system seems so overly clogged, as so many sellers seem to think that bids are best then.
When I list an item at eBay, it is all outta my hands and into the hands of the eBaysian Gawds as to whether there will be that final important last minute bidding and last second sniping.
I know that I can NOT depend on any part of the Net to be up and functioning, much less the most popular online auction.....
Years from now, we'll sneer at newbies and tell 'em how g00d they had it, and they didn't go through alla the down times -- which, like you said earlier, used to occur several times a DAY.

WOW that was a shock I checked my auction that I could not access during the outage.
Almost fell of my chair I had had a bidding war going on between two regular customers.
I had a reserve of 185 and it went for 255.00
It may have been the only thing anyone could bid on.It's a pity I did not have another but it was very unique.
It was a page from a 1597 Fox's Book of Martyr showing William Tyndale about to be burned at the stake.With his saying "God open the King of England's eyes".
The history behind that piece was incredible.
Although down it was still not a bad night for me after all.
Maybe I should start threads my Bids Stink more often.

Okay, Okay, so mayber you have a point. I have to admit that I too sometimes have to vent a little about the dependability of eBay. However... There is a difference between stating your disapointment and whining. Right??? I do appologize to those who don't complain constantly. Those of you who do, and you know who you are. Don't. It's just not becomming, and deos no good at all.

Nobody likes their best laid plans going up in smoke.....but who says anything in life is "guaranteed". I have gone to real life auctions that have been snowed out, rained out, etc. And i have gotten into my car to go to a show or a fantastic sale....only to find it dead. Its part of life!

Well, I still asked for my auction fees back. The worst then can say is no. I had a signed book that went for 295.00 (the reserve I had on it) But I know the one bidder couldn't get in and was willing to go 400.00. So they save themselves some money. As a seller I want them to spend. I paid a buck for it so I guess I am still happy but I should have gotten at least 400.00 and most likely 500 to 550.00 low ball high ball a lot more maybe even 800.00 from what I have seen over the last 8 months. So, you bet I am pissed at ebay, but hate it know couldn't have made the 295.00 without them and I don't hate anyone. Hate is a waste of time and people that hate an object are accuse people of hating an object don't know much about real life. It is just like loving Ebay I also don't love ebay or will I be thinking about them on my death bed. Perspective I think they call it.
PS I also sell on yahoo and sell on my own web sites.
