Yesterday I asked you all where to write to Ebay for Suggestions to Ebay! Thanks to all the wonderful people telling where to go here is the response I thought you might want to hear about!
Hello, (FROM EBAY!)
The ability to choose the ending time and date for an auction is something that a lot of sellers have requested and it's something we're considering for a future system upgrade. It would not only give sellers
more flexibility in planning their days, but it should also relieve some of the system load during primetime hours, so it' something we're definitely looking at. It isn't something that is scheduled, but
schedules change regularly. To keep abreast of what's going on, check our Announcement Board periodically as we post updates there whenever a new feature is being considered or added. If you haven't seen this board before, you can find it by clicking the Community link that is at the top of most eBay pages, or you can go directly to this URL:

Don't get too excited jlb444. I suggested the same thing to ebay many months ago, and I think I received the same form letter that you did.

I think that what's holding them up is that they are still trying to figure a way to attach new fees to its useage.

New ebay Fee:
$0.50 for user selectable auction start/end time.
This will speed up the schedule.

I agree (although I don't know if the others were kidding or not-); eBay will likely tie such a feature to an additional fee.

Oh you guys are too funny... But so true. Ebay should look at it though it will stop a lot of negative remarks about Ebay being down all the time and get them more listings! Paying a fee for this function just isn't worth it on my small items. Hope a lot of people ask them for this though maybe it would get the ball going. Thanks again for all the support on these boards. Love them. J

What I have suggested, a long time ago, and received a "we will see...." answer to, was to be able to choose the bid increments...I hate to see high-end auctions in particular, going at crawl pace...Some auction sites (among them Old And Sold), let Seller decide on the increments.

I'm sure too, that there's some concern on their part about what this will do to increasing the load on the servers during peak hours. As someone pointed out, it would allow people more flexibility in when they actually do their listing, but most people will want their auctions to end during peak surfing times. The resulting increase of people trying to access the servers to snipe during that time would probably crash the system on a regular basis. That may be part of the hold up.

"New ebay Fee: $0.50 for user selectable auction start/end time.
What happens when (not if) everyone chooses to have their auction to end at prime time?
Weeknight prime time ending fee: $1.00
1am - 5am night owl ending time special: FREE!

None of the dufus' st Ebay have brought that idea up in their meetings as yet.
Not to worry though. Some day soon they will and all will say it is 'a great idea' to the dufus who brings it up.
THEN, as history has shown us... they will totally screw it up for us ...it will work half the time and be fraught with errors and problems.
Ah, Ebay life. Ain't it great?

Not an issue- everyone knows Ebay is always down during Primetime.
NOT Vorlon4 at Ebay.
