I just received an email from ebay - all kinds of promotional stuff about Billpoint.
Free Visa transactions
Free Check transactions
$1 off to buyers
And:
BILLPOINT AVAILABLE OUTSIDE EBAY In early November, Billpoint will be available for your use outside of eBay. Now you can offer your customers the convenience and security of Billpoint payments no matter where you conduct business!
Billpoint keeps looking better and better.. never thought that would happen....

Wow. Gotta hand it to eBay. They are doing an awesome job of taking advantage of Paypal's woes.
I've had occasion to use Billpoint for transactions off eBay. I had to set up an auction for the buyer, close the auction once the "bid" was placed, and pay eBay all of the fees. Not really a good option, but still cheaper than alternatives such as CCnow, and more convenient, if the buyer is already familiar with Billpoint.

And I thought they would be too scared that they might facilitate a transaction for another auction. I am not used to them doing something this intelligent!!

Billpoint is actually run independant of ebaY.
They also have a group of select sellers that they have conference with and get their imput on new ideas.
They also take into consideration any ideas we may have as well.
They are great people to deal with and are really interested in making it work for both buyer and seller.
They are way ahead of Paypal in how they handle things.
To show you that they work independant of ebaY.Sometimes you will find you cannot access them. This is not becuase of the system being down but because ebaY had made some changes on thier end and had not notified Billpoint so they could not make the changes they need to do to make Billpoint work.
Sometimes I think they are as frustrated with ebaY as we are.
But I do like how they work and Visa is free this month as has been mentioned.
I think you will see some other changes in the near future as well that they are working on.
