What do you think about the new bid enhancements? Here is a portion of Ebay's announcement regarding the changes:
Today, we are rolling out exciting changes to the Bid History and Bidder Search pages. These changes were requested by many of you to help improve your visibility to how transactions are conducted on eBay and provide you with productivity enhancements. In particular, many of you requested a more complete view of bid information to address concerns of shill bidding, retractions, and sniping and other bidding-related questions.
They didn't say sniping is necessarily bad, but they sure lumped it with bad company! I don't mind snipers as I like seeing my auctions run up in the last few minutes.

This is a first time post. After selling on E-bay for 9 months, I am still confused s to why Bidding at the last Minuet is considered a Bad thing. They refer to it as Snipping (IE As in Sniper??) To me WATCHING an Item is common, and considered OK, however after WATCHING, if you bid at the last Minuet you are Now a SNIPPER?? Where is the logic?? At Real auctions, people can bid at the last second, why can't the same be done here?? I would suggest if E-bay wanted to end this Practice, then Drop the WATCHING section. And I also Agree with Linda Jean- the last few minuets of an auction that has a flurry of bids is the MOST exciting. Snippers are welcome at KG-Bay's auctions.... as long as they honor those bids

The people who don't like sniping are the bidders who lose out on those auctions. If Ebay is anti-sniping, then why did they institute the "Watch" feature and continue it? It absolutely encourages sniping. I love it as a bidder, and hate it as a seller. I really wish everyone who wanted to "watch" an item still had to enter at least one bid to get it on their bidder list and "watch" it. Counters are nice, but you have no idea how many of those people are planning to come back and bid.
I'm not sure why sniping was even addressed in that comment from Ebay, as they condone it and have done little or nothing to stop it. That's half the fun of an auction, whether on-lin or in real life.

I think sniping makes eBay fun! Watching your items that you think are going to end too cheap go up by several dollars in the last minute can be quite entertaining. I guess the bottom line on sniping is if you really want something, it matters not if you bid now or the last minute of the auction, but what matters is that you bid the maximum amount that you are willing to give for an item when you do bid. $$$coyote$$$

eBay is definitely NOT anti-sniping. I went to their so-called "eBay University" when it was here in SoCal, and they even showed how to snipe effectively.
FYI, the eBay U was interesting, but I can't say I learned anything new. It was nice meeting with other sellers and meeting some actual eBay folks in person. 2 of the instructors were eBay's very first and second customer service reps.
