Can someone please explain to me that if you sit and watch an auction go all the way till the end, until it is gone form the screen, and have the high bid through out the entire time and then get out bid??? I really wanted that item and was very happy until I looked at me email and discovered and note form ebay saying I had been out bid, but the auction was over then. I appreicate any advice I can get. Thanks!

Take a look at the bid history---were you on the auction page itself?? I don't understand your statement "it went off the screen"

Yep, Puzzlelove was outbid in the last 5 seconds of the auction. She/He was outbid by .50 cents.
The best way to prevent this is to bid your absolute highest amount you are will to pay. In this case, the winner only had to go one bid increment over your proxy bid. If your proxy had been higher, you would have possibly still won, but at a higher price. The winning bidder would not have had time to place a second bid, since they waited until the last few seconds to place their first bid.

Maybe you were looking at a cached copy of the auction. Were you hitting "update" or "refresh"?
Not my name on ebay.

Don't worry Puzzlelove. Another item just like the one you missed will coming swimming downstream again. That's the great thing about eBay, there's almost always more than one of the 'thingies' you're looking for!
