I have a problem. I had an individual from Canada who emailed me about halfway through an auction regarding an item I had for sale. They wanted to know if I could get the item in question to them by the 21st if they won the auction. Well, the auction ended on the 18th and I emailed them to let them know there was no way I knew of where they could get payment to me and I could get it to Canada in 3 days. I live in a rural area and am around 60 miles or so from the largest town in the area. Well, the email came back as undeliverable. I double checked the address and it was the only one to reply to on their email. I just spaced it off then. Today I got home and found an email from them saying they won the item and want me to ship it FedX overnight tomorrow as they need it by the 21st. They would give me their company FedX number for shipping. They are a newbee with 0 feedback and they have registered on eBay only 3 days ago. I've made exceptions and have shipped some items out before being paid if the buyer has good feedback. I've not gotten burned yet! I'm a little leery of this deal though. I emailed them that fact this evening and have yet to hear back from them. Would anybody here ship it out?

If he/she is so anxious, the email should have said the payment will arrive via Fedex tomorrow with a prepaid envelope or sticker and could you ship it as soon as you received it? No way would I ship without payment.

never EVER ship anything COD to ANYONE. I wouldn't ship COD to Mother Teresa (assuming she were still here). There's no reason to and you are out money until they get money back to you. It's expensive and impractical. The could BidPay the money or BillPoint payment or overnight mail cash to you.
Noooo COD Don't do it, don't even think about it, you will be sorry.....

Since she was in such a hurry, yet now she wont respond to emails, I have to guess this deal is dead anyway. I've heard more bad things about COD than good over the years, so that is probably out. The item went for way more than I though it would. I guess this is my punishment!

I had exactly the same thing happen to me with a 0 feedback buyer. The price was less than $15 so I decided to go for it. I coughed up for express shipping, too. I told her that sometimes rules were meant to be broken and that I would take a chance on her. I also told her that a lot of sellers would not have agreed to do it and she should have checked before bidding. I got my money order in due time, so it ended well for me.

macandjan....That idea has occured to me also. I guess they could overnight the payment to me, I receive it and ship it the same day overnight and they get it by the 21st. All they told me was that they would mail the money order out tomorrow.

Err on the side of caution. It sounds like a scam to me. Most scams involve Fed-ex shipping, plus a bad email equals bad news. Have you searched to see if they won other auctions? The only people I would ship to before receiving payment is a repeat customer.

This individual contacted me this morning. Apparently they are sending a courier from FedX tomorrow with payment. All for a $59 novelty item from the 70's!
