I just had 17 auctions close. 12 successful. Three of the "high bidder's" have already contacted me for payment info. Given our recent strings re: phantom high bidder showing up a day later, you think prudence should take precedence here? I think I'm gonna find a "tactful" way to email these folks, thanking them for their quick response, but request holding off till tomorrow before any transactions are acted upon. Sheeesh! EOA notices are forever in coming. If we can't rely on the Closed Auction info as accurate, this is going to be a real pain!

If you are waiting for ebay's close of auction emails be prepared to wait a looooong time. I haven't gotten one in 2 weeks now, and I run 50 to 60 auctions a week! I check my ebay for the info and (fingers crossed here) haven't had a problem yet.

I haven't relied on those things for years, get on with it and notify the winners. I started getting daily status reports on the weekend, haven't seen those for 6 months, lol!

I just go to My Selling page, open the auction and click on the high bidders email address and send the WBN. Seems like 2-3 days for Ebay to get those things out. I figure if I'm looking at the closed auction page and they're the high bidder, that's who I'm sending the info to.
I'm off to do the same thing. Just had 9 close about 20 minutes ago.

I also don't wait for those silly emails before I send out my emails. Been selling for over a year and a half and have had no problems.
I actually go to the closed auction and select the info I want and print the page (w/o the pictures) Easy to keep track that way.

I Never wait either... however, in the past 2 weeks, I have been getting my EOA's from eBay in 30 minutes after they close
why'd that all of sudden start workin'??
heh..
deja deja deja vu believe it and it will come true!
Been selling on eBay for close to 4 years now and as soon as it was an Option stopped EOA Notices from being sent, also Listing Confirm Notice. I usually send my EOA Info that night or first thing in the AM and have never sent one to the wrong folks. Sent the wrong amount, shorted myself on shipping, sent twice, never recieved a reply/payment yes but never seen this "phantom" bidder show up.
The only way you would not see the correct high bidder at EOA on the eBay page I can think of is if your Browser was still loading the page from the Browser Cache. You can either clear your Cache or with Netscape hold the "Alt" key down when hitting reload "forces" Netscape to reload the whole page and not read from cache.

My strategy is to use details in my eBay after signing in. This shows all the email addresses and final bids. I hit each email address, grab the EOA from Word and send them off! I did 17 last night within well under an hour of close. I am working to make this a bit more automated, but it's pretty good.

And me, I've found that with 50-60 auctions, even going into 'My Selling' page and pulling up closed auctions was too much trouble.. try doing a seller search on yourself, get emails and fill the page. You got the auction number, item description, high bid amount, high bidder Ebay ID & Email address.. all right thar' at your fingertips!

Don't make mountains out of a mold hill. People complain that bidders don't reply but when they do, people complain about that too. If you auctions are closed you can very easily confirm that right. Do you need eBay to tell you they are closed?.
I would be really happy with buyers who show interest in paying me. I close over 200-400 auctions a week & sometimes I am 2-3 days late sending out notices.
If the buyer is a phantom, it doesn't matter what you do. If they guy doesn't want to pay, he won't. Enter every transaction with a positive attitude. Make it sweet and simple, why are you e-mailing him & telling him that you must be cautious because he might turn out to be phantom. Doesn't matter if he has 0 feedback...he has already won the auction, you can't judge him by his feedback.
Selling & buying is really simple. He pays, you send...there are more complicated issues like emmmm...saving the turtle & banning turtle shells in eBay
