In August I was really sweating it! Sales were way down and the number of deadbeat bidders were high!

Things have picked up greatly - just like you all said they would! Tonight almost all of my auctions sold and they sold for good prices! Whew! This is my sole income.

And when I looked back at the past few weeks worth of sales, I have none - zero - nada - zilch - absolutely no "Not Paid"s on file!

Thank you, Lord!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah! Yippee! Hurray! Yee-Haw!(for Texans)

How about the rest of you?? Are you feeling the relief?

Yup! As predicted, after Labor Day comes the Buyers back from vacation. As soon as the weather chills a bit, then you'll see all or nearly all of your auctions selling for good prices.

Of course, this is also the media's anti-Internet season as well. While Newsweek, Time, TV Networks, CNN, FoxNews, etc have been screaming FRAUD! FRAUD! FRAUD! DON'T BUY ON THE INTERNET BECAUSE OF FRAUD! YOU'LL BE CHEATED, CHEATED, CHEATED -- DON'T SHOP AT ONLINE AUCTIONS/EBAY - THE AUCTIONS ARE ALL FIXED, FIXED, FIXED, CHEATED, CHEATING, CHEATERS, FRAUD! FRAUD! FRAUD!" all year long, you haven't seen anything yet! They intend on knocking online auction Sellers so hard this Fall that they hope eBay will roll over. You just watch and wait!

Well I am glad someone sales are up. Mine, however are still in the gutter. Things are selling but nobody is bidding till the last miniute and I get maybe two bids, if I'm lucky. Since all my auctions start under $10.00 and no reserve you can imagine what my profits look like. I had a great Aug., but so far my Sept. has been pitiful. I quess everyone spent all there money on back to school clothes for the kids, (or somewhere because they are not spending it with me.)

I sell vintage jewelry and I just bought some very very nice pieces to list. I am weary about listing them now because I know what I can get for them if my sales were normal. I don't want a item that should have sold for $20.00 or better sell for what I start it at $7.99. But that is what is happening right now.

So I am holding on to the best pieces until my sales start to go up. I am relisting some older stock and listing stock that I had laying around for a few months. <p>
Catryan: How on earth do you get those what-ever things to jump and move like that!! All I can say is WOW!!!

Best of luck!!!!

I also am happy to announce an upswing in bidding. The summer slump didn't find me until the end of August and lasted just a couple of weeks.

Back to healthy hits and bids as of last night. woohoo!

In retail I found that the end of August and the first week in September is slow because a lot of people are spending their money on clothes and supplies for children going back to school.

We also saw a big slump just before April 15 and not pick up until a couple of weeks after that.

I'm glad that we are not the only ones having this problem. This summer was great but so far, September has been a bust. We get high bids on some items but our sales percentage is lousy compared to August.

I've been attempting to figure out a reason but our items are as good or better and our starting bids are about the same.

I finally listed 14 auctions after Labor Day. These are items that I could not give away during late July and early August. This time I opened the bids at $1.99 instead of my usual $7.00. The auctions closed Saturday with bids on everything. I'm pleased because I did better than my competitors that were selling the same identical items. I guess it was the low opening bids.

I'm hoping that this means the slump is over!

Weeellll- I have 18 GOOD items listed right now- and only one has bids (2 of 'em!!- and that's from my mother feeling sorry for me and bidding) I'm getting lots of hits, but the bidders seem to still be waiting til the LAST minute. At least I hope they're waiting....
