Those of you who regularly sell stuff at over 100 dollars may find it silly, but my book auctions tend to be between 5 and 15 dollars and the highest go to 30 dollars maybe on a lucky day. Well tonight, my first edition that I did not even know was valuable went at a final call of (get ready) $175.00!!! That's more than twice as much as anything I ever sold before---way more. To me, I don't know whether to laugh or cry---laugh because it's so amazing, or cry because I'm so surprised and grateful. What's really, really nice, is that the final snipe was from the person who first e-mailed me, to tell me it was a special book, and who gave me the information I needed to market it better. A classy person. Here's the funny part: I had a bunch of relatives watching and whooping and clapping as we hit "reload" to see what the total was.....100, no 110, no 140, no, 160,and finally 175. (all in 60 seconds!!) Then my mother was Instant Messaging me saying "Did you see that? Did you see how high it is going?" Then as soon as I got offline, the phone rang with another friend congratulating me!! Who says the web isn't warm and fuzzy.....lol I'm going to Disneyland! ! !
thanks y'all

Congratulations! That is so exciting! I have not had that happen at one of my auctions for quite a while. Happy to know it still does!

Congratulations Kim!!!! I can't say I'm too surprised but I am glad eBay was functioning when your auction ended. It's also nice to hear that it went to a classy bidder.
Had to edit because I was redundant.

Congrats!! Way to go!!
That only proves that eBay does work!! I have several friends who IT has happened to. One bought a figurine for a few dollars and sold it for $600.00. He found out later that it was the first Precious Moments ever released.
I am still waiting for IT to happen to me. Waiting.. and waiting .. oh well!! I just keep listing and waiting.
Congratulations again!!!!!!

Wow! What fun for you! I had a wild night last night also...had 3 books that went for a total of about $220.00!
I was alone upstairs and my 16 year old son was downstairs. I kept hitting refresh and watching the numbers rise, yelling and screaming to Tim to "come watch this!", "this is amazing!", "get up here and look!", "hurry--you are missing it!"
Have you ever talked to a wall? (laughing here)
Glad you had someone there to share your excitement...I had a great time, but it is so much more fun when someone is there!
BTW...I always charge book rate, but for this bunch I am going to upgrade to priority with insurance at my own expense. I figure that with the profit I made I can handle that!

There are a lot of "small" sellers out there just like you and I, who whoop and holler when something goes over $50. In fact, even the guys at the post office all cheer when I bring in something like that. In fact, they offered to stick sparklers on my last one. Congratulations! Isn't that fun!!!???

I had it on my Watch list and saw that it was sniped in the last four seconds. What fun! Congratulations!

Congratulations!!!....I do believe that the absolute thrill of watchin' your auction end "bid by bid" is the same be it a $50 or $500 item!....So nice to see that you had family & friends to share it with!....BUT, be forewarned this is how the eBay addiction starts! (well, at least it was for me!).....
May you have many, many more!

The first time one of my items went over 100.

I too am very happy for you that Ebay was up & running when you're auction ended. I used to take that for granted but I sure don't now.

You Go!! I know exactly what you're saying -as a "small-time" seller myself, I've had a few items that I've gotten for next to nothing sell above and beyond what I ever imagined!! I remember when I sold a book for $36.00 that I had gotten for a quarter at a garage sale - I couldn't hit refresh fast enough!!

Yay Kim!
I know the feeling, because of the book I sold a few weeks ago for $100, that I expected to get MAYBE $15 for, TOPS! I whooped and nearly fell off my chair, and screamed for my husband so loud he thought someone was hurt! lol
Great, ain't it!?

Isn't that a great adrenaline rush? I had an old toy jump from 200 to just over 500 once during the last few minutes of the auction - what a rush!
Btw, it was an old Humble oil well toy put out by in the 40's - so, if you spot one at a garage sale - grab it! I got mine for a dollar.
