The only irrefutable confirmation of my senility would have been a serious rather than tongue-in-cheek response. Not about the article however.
Walsh's views are quite sane. I hope that he survives.

Yes, it surprised me a little to read that, but only because there is a great deal in the media which indicates that many religious groupings of the "moral majority" ilk feel as though the election of GW holds great promise for the realization of their goals.

Doubtlessly there were deals under the table. So far Ashcroft's selection seems to be the only big pay off.
Local rumor has it that Frank Keating, governor of Oklahoma, has been tapped for the FBI job. Many of us here have our fingers crossed for his selection.

Ken - thanks for that last link. What a wise, conpassionate, and loving person the author is.
I hope all here that keep telling us to forget it and move on will read it. Why can't you see we are not mourning the loss of Gore as president just because we are democrats, or independents. However, we did agree that Bush was just not qualified to be President.
How can you not see our freedoms are in jeopardy here? They have already been abused and trampled on by the Supreme Court of the United States. Peoples voting rights were taken from them. Dishonest politicians manipulated the outcome of the election for the President of the United States.
Why don't these things bother you? How can you just look the other way? You think we look stupid? We are fighting for our rights, and yours too by the way, even if you don't see it that way!

LOL Ken
I hadn't checked my email. I just scouted around for a few minutes. The Ashcroft cartoon is priceless. Uncannily accurate.

Yep. Just as I suspected. You hear the phone when it's not ringing, and you don't hear your email dinger when it does ring.
It's OK, Dan, some things are better left unheard.

I didn't think that you were still in contact with her, or I wouldn't have mentioned it. Sorry.

How could the vice-president lose the election in his OWN state? The votes were counted. Granted some were thrown out due to various reason's, but this happens every election. Because it was a very close election this problem was magnified. We need to correct this with the technologies that are at our disposal. Regardless, for all of you dems- here is a hanky to blow your nose. Your man LOST, move on please.

That's really not a puzzle and it really doesn't say anything about Gore.
Gore is a liberal Democrat. Tennesse is largely a conservative Republican state.

Ahem!
Politics can be a touchy subject, as you all know. Please remember to address the topic, not the individual.
Thanks for your cooperation. As always.

I'm sorry for "straying" Pattaylor. Politics is definitely a subject that can burn out of control.

Yes, the way and age of the voting machines are do need to be examined closely. It certainly made me aware of things I did not know. The shoe could have been on the other foot. Doesn't make it right either way or I didn't think so in the United States of America. I was also under the false impression that the Supreme Court of the United States of America were impartial to politics.
At this time I feel we are no longer any better than a 3rd world country. I used to think it made us stand tall and proud.
I am not proud of this and I would have felt the same way and did for either party. I would not have wanted for Gore to have won with the same questions. I would always feel that there was a possibly being of him being an imposter too.
I wouldn't need a hanky. I just needed to take off my rose colored glasses and have.

As much as I do not care for Bush, pictures of his kids should be left out of it. I cannot remember them hitting on Chelsea like that. Political humor is one thing but leave his children out of it.....

Hey, Zelda. How goes it?
The media did attempt to feed on Chelsea. Awful stuff in the beginning, and she was what? Twelve? Mama Hillary had a fit and then nicely asked (begged) the media to cut the kid some slack - that being a teenager sucks no matter if you are in the public fishbowl or not. Apparently, most took it to heart. We've seen much more of Chelsea the past year or so - she's older and better equipped to handle it. So far, she hasn't messed up too bad while there were cameras around.
Keep your hanky. I'm with Shar on this one. It is embarrassing to see America brought down with BS like this. As far as I have seen, Mr. Bush was not elected by the people of America. He was elected by a Supreme Court that had no business doing anything but saying "count the damn votes - all of them".

Zelda - The media was terrible with Chelsea. But, they picked on her looks. She was just a kid in that gangly state. They laughed about her hair, and generally made fun of her. Things that would devastate any teenager.
I think this article was pointing out character traits she shares with her father about being wild and drinking. Also, it shows that that so called moral religious family is a big farce. Besides she's an adult. She better clean up her act or else we'll be reading a lot more about her.

People will never forget what have happened, and we will see in 2002 when the demos take control of congress, and Jeb is defeated in Florida. I would love to see Hillary Clinton on the demo ticket in 2004.

Kris & Choco(excuse the abbreviation) I think you are right about Chelsea now that I recall. This still doesn't make it right. I did some pretty wild things in College too. (If you can remember that far back LOL). Truthfully this was the first time I have ever seen Bush's daughter and the picture wasn't too nice. I just think with all the other things the media can play on the kids should be left out. I think it will be up to the parents to let the media know to lay off their daughters.
