Message to Diana[and everyone else] just for the he-- of it i sent a/w an email early and asked what was wrong..less hour later i heard from "Sonya" with an explanation, AND AN APOLOGY..for those of us[OR AT LEAST ME] who got raped by photopoint, appreciate the answer..and no, i didnt like my few auctions being "blanked" for the day...but "it" happens! after all, we are in a world filled with less than perfect machinery being maintained by less than perfect people==and used by less than perfect people...at any rate, good selling and safe days to everyone!!! sam, myoldtoy

I think I had 13 auctions ending last night, 8 with bids. I may have lost a bit, but probably not much. After all, many people do use the "Watch" feature and were going to bid anyway. I DO remember when Auctionwatch was FREE ... no complaints here. I never forget a friend or a favor and Auctionwatch is right up there in the favor department.

Nothing is perfect and things do happen and at least AW does not take the arrogant stance that e-Bay does when they do. The only sure way to avoid this is to post photos to one's own web site and that takes time and a bit of work. Really think this thread should be dropped because venting is not going to help.

To all of you who had auction's without pic's.
And to those of you who may not get credit for it.
The thing I would do is:
Pack it up and move to the service ( I'm sure you'll find it no trouble) that never has any crashes or down time and sends your $$ right back the moment they experience trouble.
Should'nt be hard to find!

I understand for Auctioners that have only 100 auctions or so..but some of us have as many as 1500 auctions running weekly??...any down time is costly...for everyone...I do not think there is ever any program 100% fool proof...but I have been experiencing problems with the ampro CRASHING so to look for other services is going to be a NECESSITY...until then...will work with what we have!!!...Ebay with one picture is better than no picture ....so as I type...I will leave the puter on all night ...with 13 hours and 7 minutes still uploading all the images that were lost.....WILL SEE IF THE MISHAP?? HELPS WITH THE CRASHING...IF NOT..ON TO OTHER SERVICES ....Hope everyone has a great JUNE 1ST, 2002!!!

The main danger to AW for these outages is the loss of confidence of its users or potential users. How many outages can a cable TV company have before cancellation orders start coming in as users order satellite dishes?
eBay has minor outages frequently but there is no other choice.

Anything contradictory in the statement: "Pack it up and move to the service .... that never has any crashes or down time and sends your $$ right back the moment they experience trouble. " ???

Very disappointing service. I am thinking about changing to another service. It has been 2 days now and no pictures. D. Specht

Anyone ever try viewing auctions hosted by Andale? All too frequently the photos do not download or else I see partial pics. Not only that but if they do download, it takes forever. E-Bay uses Andales counters and more than half the time, all I ever see on mine and others is "Thanks for Looking."

Some people would complain if they got hung with a NEW rope---
AW has been very good to and for me. I can't remember the last time that they caused a problem for my listings.
Sometimes things happen beyond anyones control, but thankfully not very often here.

If auctionwatch would compansate us what is a reasonable amount that would make us all happy?

You don't understand business if you tell us we did not loose money. Just maybe a few cents in listing??? You must not think to highly of yourself if your time is only worth a "few cents". Time is money, and lost auctions during this outing means lost sales, which means LOST MONEY!!!!!

well, i saw a posting today from AW stating how they plan to compensate their customers for their downtime on May 30.

I'm not sure that it applies to me since I don't use AW to post any auctions; I mainly use their flat fee service for hosting my images. Will I receive any compensation (like a free month?) after all, **I** was affected by their crash; all day on thursday, potential customers could not bid on my auctions!

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

To those taking side with AW.....you have to be kidding me. They have agreed to refund .25 per listing (only those ending between the hours of the shutdown). With my plan I have already paid .20 per listing. Boy, what compensation!
