Well, since I have no way to contact Barry(studmuffin)Barris, and the AW email service is going kapoot, I guess I have to do different measures.

Moderator, can you please forward this message to Barry(Hes DA man)Barris for me? Thanks

"Dear Barry(we miss you)Barris,

Please come to the RT at your earliest convenience, as you are needed there. There is a thread with your name all over it, and we wont rest until you come to just let us know you are ok, and still around. We miss you, and look forward to seeing you...so hurry up!"

Sincerely, Maui.

Please forward that asap, moderators. Thanks again for your assistance.

Anyone else have a message they need forwarded to someone here?

Losing my email here at AW saddens me. I just moved all my email over here a couple of months ago and now I have to find a new email home already! Darn! I really liked it here! Plus being the only way to contact some other posters here. I will miss the service greatly. My auction management is going to be more complicated now.
I wish there was a way AW could keep it going.

Happy New Year to you all... I just read all of this and I'm really confused since I never had AW's free mail service. I thought the whole AW package was so complete that I signed up as with premium services not once but twice! The service has been wonderful for me also has allow me to learn from all the AW posters how to be a **better seller** I don't post much but lurk from my fence all the time. now I'm wondering how I'll get refunded for my account I just signed up for second year. I'm going to leap back to my fence and travel along.

= ^..^= leaps back to her fence to travel along to...another spot another along the way

hope my attempt works

Funny, I actually read this notice. Sadly. I doubt there will be much consequence. Clearly not cost effective to continue the service. Heck, if my profile is any example, they should have ditched it eons ago.

SK! Great to see you. It's I who've been away. Miss your insights. Dare I say irreverence?

Chris, is there any possibility that, with sufficient pleas, AW can keep this email function?

I, too, have been very happy to use AW for my auction email. It would also be such a pain to have to change my email address for all the auction sites.

And, as someone pointed out earlier, I do indeed log in, check my email, then go on to other AW functions from that window. Not logging in for email would likely mean less use of AW functions for me (you know -- out of site (haha) out of mind).

As someone who runs an ISP, I am curious as to whether running the email function really presents a significant drain on AW's coffers. Especially since, as you stated, not as many people are using it as you had anticipated.

What about the possibility of just keeping it for the current users, and not offering/taking on new users?

Please consider these issues and let us know if there are any ways of altering your current decision.

Thank you!

Hi kinkajougirl--

Let me try to clarify the decision that was made concerning our webmail product.

While we certainly understand the inconvenience of having to go get a new email address and make changes. Our business focus is and always will be delivering the maximum benefit in terms of products and services to all of our customers. We carefully evaluated our webmail product and came to the conclusion that it was not a valuable feature to the majority of our customers based upon user adoption. We then took into consideration the impact it would have for those who in fact used webmail. Because of that impact to customers such as yourself, we came up with a 60 day transition plan which included automatic email forwarding for an additional 30 days.

We appreciate your feedback and hope that this is not too much of an inconvenience.

Duh -- sorry I took so long to reply.

First, thank you for your very complete explanation to me. I may not like it, but I respect it.

Second, I followed the instructions in the close-account letter you sent and must say I am impressed and gratified at the attention to detail you supplied. I can't think of any other site that I can imagine doing this in the classy way you have, and I want to say thank you.
