I sold something about 3 weeks ago and the buyer paid very quickly with paypal.
About 2 days later they sent an email asking if I had receive the payment and when I would ship. I replied I had gotten the payment and had already shipped. No reply
The next day I got another payment from the same buyer for the same item? I had been seeing double posting of items in my paypal account but they did not appear to be added in my account but once. With this one I could not tell as I had just made a transfer of funds. So I wrote the guy and asked him if he had paid twice? No reply.
A few days later I wrote him again - no reply.
A week later the same thing again - no reply.
I finally wrote paypal to check to be sure it was posted and added twice and it was.
I want to give the money back to the guy but I can't understand why he will not answer my email.
If I refund it by not accepting it - can he turn around and cancel the other.
Anyone ever had this problem.

Lady - if you go to the botton of the page with the details of the second payment you will see a text link to refund payment. You can put in a notation that you are refunding a duplicate payment, that should get you some type of reply.

I understand you don't want to receive payment twice for something - but more importantly, since you have already shipped, you don't want to lose by refunding one payment and about the same time the buyer realizes they paid twice and subsequently cancels one of the transfers and then you have nothing!

I suggest waiting even longer - you've emailed the customer a few times - either their mail box is full (which you should get a note telling you that), they are away on business or vacation, have lost their internet connection, or possibly had a tragic accident. You never know.

You've tried contacting them by email. You have attempted to make good on the duplicate payment - it's up to them to answer you now.

You may want to try finding their name and phone number through 411 or the old fashioned way by calling information for the city you mailed the item to. If successful, call them - and explain what's going on.

Thanks for the information and suggestions. I tried one more email and this time I got a reply. All is well that ends well.
Thanks
