I am a Canadian seller. I got the Debit Card from paypal so I could take advantage of their money back on purchases.
Having the card has been a nightmare.
First, when I received the card I found out that it does not work as a debit card in Canada, only as mastercard. This was nowhere on their site or when I applied for it.
I can accept that but the real problem is that with over $4,000 in the account I get declined for transactions.
I called paypal and they apologized saying that they need to verify that I still had the card. Ok no problem with that.
Well, how about this happening EVERY WEEK !!
I called them 5 times already, since every week for the past 5 weeks they keep cutting my card off. They explained to me that they do not call Canada (must be because it is so far away) so then they just restrict the account.
WHAT A JOKE.
5 times my card gets cut off (very embarrasing when you pay for a $10.00 item and you are declined) 5 times they restore it with apologies.
Now they have done it again so I am cutting up my card and sending it back to them with the best canadian words I know - take your card and shove it up your $%@& !!
If you are a Canadian paypal customer DO NOT get the paypal card it is useless.

the paypal debit card is a master card.
here in usa,i know costco wont accept the card even though it is being used as a debit card as they said since it is mastercard,it will still have to pay a fee.infact there is a big lawsuit from big chains such as walmart suing mastercard and its issuers on taking hefty fee while it is being used as a debit card, meaning fund is taken from our bank account and they dont have to fund it .
i dont know about canada, may be someone from your country can tell you about the experience.
i use it at gas stations, chain stores with no problem,i avoid mom and pop stores .

The problem is not the card itself. It can only be used as a mastercard so it is not a debit card.
I would use it if it wasnt blocked every week so they could see that I still have the card.
