to get PayPal, et al, to respond to problems when PayPal users give sloppy kisses to the service...we, as the screwed over ex-users, come off as malcontents in the eyes of the public. We are told at AW to take our PayPal complaints to the PayPal board (perhaps to keep us away from the general public?), yet this kind of smarmy stuff goes on the Ebay board http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&thread=469226

Just kind of made me gag! Snuggle

Ok, I gotta eat a few of my words here...although I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT PRAISE PAYPAL for the handling of my account restriction...but I WILL thank Damon for his help which finally got the 2 month restriction lifted today. Honestly, I thought "here we go again" when I received an email from PayPal customer service today asking for more information, including a copy of my electric bill and a bank statement of my new checking account, noting that I had faxed a copy of the online banking account which was unacceptable.. I was about to finally say "screw it" because Damon had assured me that he would intervene if I faxed a copy of my online account info because the account was so new that I didn't even have the first months bank statement yet. Figured it was more of the same ..but, within 5 minutes of that email, I received a notification from PayPal saying that the account restriction had been lifted and another email from Damon saying the same thing. So I now know that he did, indeed, intervene, and his help is appreciated. I also do not have to sell my first born child to get my account back (although, if there are any takers out there for an obstreperous female child, I'd be interested...lol). Now I don't for a minute, kid myself that this is the "usual" ending to this kind of restriction...reopening my account cost them very little...I am a small seller...if I had even $1,000 in that account, I am sure I would still be jumping through hoops. But I do appreciate Damon's help, and I am here to thank him publicly. Snuggle

Snugglump199: Well they treat you so badly that when someone in the company does what they are supposed to do you feel grateful. I know you know the score but this process is weird to read about.

I know you're thankful that Damon got the restriction lifted, but it's just another case of him jumping in when he can look like the 'hero'. It's like Flaoisland said - their idea of customer service is soooo bad, that when ANYONE even so much as acknowledges that you're having a problem - they come out looking like the 'good guy' when in fact, they were just doing what should have been done 2 months ago! - It's amazing! And still, Damon can't figure out why we're 'hostile'.

Hey Damon, how about answering that question I asked back in February and April... about why a user can't close a restricted account? Where in the user agreement does it say that a user cannot close a restriced accout? (Please quote the paragraph for everyone to see). Thanks!!

Crafty and Flaois...I agree totally with both of you...again, I don't for a minute kid myself in to thinking that Damon caused the end of all of this...if that were the case, then others would be having the same results as I finally did. My account is small...there is little to lose by returning it to me and much to gain in good PR; I didn't just fall off the turnip truck. I do believe that Damon finally intervened and things were reconciled...it could have, and should have occurred much sooner. But I will give him credit. When he does intervene, it works. Maybe he helped me 'cause I am a gorgeous blond with connections...or not. Snuggle

PayPal is no different that any other credit card company, believe me I know but I won't go into it. It took over 5 months and many letters to finally have me give up. It wasn't that large of amount. Putting stamps on the envelopes was much more.
