A lot of people (like myself) had been wondering if the rebates from cyberrebate ever do materialize (it was a question on this board long ago). I tested it out by purchasing four items totalling approx. $33. The items arrived within a few days. After about 12 WEEKS I did get all four rebate checks in the mail. So if anyone was wondering, cyberrebate does seem to work. I would have to add though that all the work you must do and hoops you have to jump through to make sure everything is done just right (so that your rebate submission doesn't get denied on some minor error)is a bit much.

I just hope they don't catch the "dot com blues" that are going around and go belly up. Since the rebates come from them, and not directly from the manufacturer, if that happens, you can kiss your $ goodbye.
I must admit that I worry that they are paying for today's rebates with tomorrow's orders of overpriced goods, and if sales start slowing, it all falls apart. But, just to be clear, I have no idea, but I would certainly limit my purchases here to items that I actually wanted (not just "wow here's a great deal!" and to an amount that I could afford to lose if they do disappear off the face of the earth.
But I do wish them well and hope they legimately succeed.

I went and checked out this site out of curiousity and saw a very nice candle that I had seen in a local store. In cyberrebate it was 99.99 before rebate and in the store 19.99 marked down to 9.99. I don't know if they do this with all their products but this certainly wasn't a deal.

Most of the computer items I looked at were at least twice as high as a "good" price would be. For example, a modem that I can often get from circuit city for $5 after $25 rebate would be $50-$75 there (but "free after rebate" ). I'd rather spend $5 after rebate and not have to tie up a lot more money on my credit card or take the chance that I'll screw up the rebate somehow and be out a lot of $ (or that cyberrebate goes out of business).
I guess I'm just naturally suspicious here. I will be upfront and say that I have absolutely no evidence against them or reason to suspect foulplay, but you are essentially making them an unsecured loan when you buy "free after rebate" items from them. Like any such loan, whether to them or your brother-in-law, be prepared never to see it again.

Thank you for the verification regarding cyberrebate. I suppose cyberrebate makes their money off of individuals not willing to take the time to complete the rebate forms. I also thought the prices were a little high compared to regular retail stores.

I'm sure it does work but i dont think its work but i dont have money to let go for a while. from a sellars point of view the time and effort is not worth the overpriced items.
Does anyone have any ideas to help me expand my e-baying. I have limited capital since i go to school. I have $1,000 i've saved that i'm willing to invest in e-bay. Any idea, whats the best way to get started, what to sell?

souloner: If you are a student and have $1,000 saved, then (as the parent of a student) I say you are way ahead of the ballgame. Take that $1,000 and put it in an IRA and forget about it until you are 65 years old. Your rate of return will be much greater than trying to sell on eBay.
Just my opinion.

In terms of selling on ebay, go to the ebay forum and ask, you'll get much more advice.
in general, the key to making money on ebay is to (amazingly enough!) have a source of cheap items you can resell for a profit. Generally this should be in an area that you have expertise in, so think about what you know and can you buy items to resell in that area?
otehrwise, take the money and put it into an investment consistent with your goals - at your age, probably growth, unless you might need to tap into that money for school expenses.

Hi, souloner:
Here is one scenario you may want to check out. It doesn't cost anything out of pocket and takes only a little bit of your time. It's something you can have working for you 'in the background'. If you're a student and online (like my son), there's a good chance you may know people who would be interested in the Free Pager with Paid Service. It really is a valid situation and they have good deals. I set it up for Tony and it does bring him in a few extra $$$. It's almost like 'found money'.
I know it cannot be posted directly, so I will just sign off as...

I purchased over 35 items from this company with full rebates. My items were delievered to the wrong address by UPS. I contacted the police and they went to the other persons house they were delievered to and scared them into giving my things back. When I got them back they were broken used and in poor condition. Since these people had used my items they did not bother to keep the boxes when they decided to drop 75% of the merchandise back on my front porch in the middle of the night. Not only did I pay a very large amount of money for items that were not worth that much, i couldnt even get the rebate because the UPC codes were not present. Becareful when you are purchasing items like this. I ended up contacting CyberREbate to explain. With out hesitation they gave me a full refund. Their customer service is awesome. I wont purchase from them again because their prices have gone up at least %80 from my first purchase. I wouldnt call this a success story, but more of a "watch out for your neighbors" *smile*.

A good deal is not always a good deal. I purchased a modem via cyberrebat in July, I have not received it as of yet.
I have resubmitted the paper work and have gotten replies from their support desk that my rebate will be in the next batch, which of course will be sent out in 3 to 4 weeks.
I sent anoter follow up about 2 weeks ago and received the same e-amail from their support " it will be in the next batch, 3 or 4 weeks from now. They have lost a customer here. "Caveat Emptor"

I was very worried after 4 months of not receiving my rebates, but I did eventually get what they promised. The only scary part is hoping that they stay around long enough for me to get my rebate. I'm sure they make their money reinvesting the inflated prices they charge. Not a bad deal though if you have the patience and like to fill out forms.

I've been using cyber rebate for a few months now and I have received all my rebates back. You do have to jump through hoops to get your rebates filled out right. I shop through a service that gives me a 5% refund back for everything I buy at Cyberrebate. So for every $100.00 I spend I get $105.00 back. When you add it up and figure that you get your money back every 3 months your making a 20% return on your purchases yearly. I don't know about you, but I can't make that much in the stock market. Plus you get the item you bought free. If anyone wants to know how it works or the site address just e-mail me. My address is [email protected]. I'll be glad to send it to you.

I use CyberRebate a lot and have nothing but good to say of them. Yes, their stuff is EXTREMELY overpriced (example I paid over $50.00 for a book that said $8.95 on the back!) but the rebate checks always arrive on or a few days ahead of when they say they will.
On two occasions the claim that I have sent in has got lost in the mail, but both times they were extremely helpful in getting a manual override, and sure enough, the checks came in.
Incidentally, if you access their site through www.ebates.com you not only get the rebate from CyberRebate but you also get a 5% rebate (are you following this?) from ebates as well - you're MAKING money before you even start!
So all in all, good luck CyberRebates - you have a hearty recommendation from a very satisfied buyer.
