Just my 2 cents here....
I have spent alot of time teaching my children morals. I have tried to teach them right from wrong. I have taught them that just because the clerk accidentally forgot to take your money doesn't mean you don't have to pay her.
I have also taught them that if the neighbor's ball comes into our yard it is not yours. Sure, legally it is on your property so you could keep it. BUT morally you know it belongs to the neighbor so you should return it to who it rightfully it belongs to.
Now, using this scenario for the election:
Little Al's ball rolls into Little Dubya's yard. Seeing Al coming for the ball, Little Jebby grabs the ball and runs with it. "Quick Dubya - let's get the neighbor kids to help - we could hide it. We could paint it. We could get the other kids to tell him it is ours. We can get Daddy's friends to help. We have to keep this ball!"
Al goes home to his parents, who are sure Barb and George will tell their boys to return it, so they call them. Mr. B says to Mr. G: "Oh, I'm sorry. You say your son's ball rolled into our yard. I'm sorry. Your son had a yellow ball. Dubya and Jebby are playing with a red one. Hold on a second."
"Quick Barbara - I think Dubya and Jebby must have cut their hands. They are all red!"
"Now, Mr. Gore, please do not bother us. It is our ball now."
Mr. Gore then appealed to the other members of their neighborhood but, since most of them owed their jobs to Georgie, they sided with Dubya and Jebby.
Poor little Al. He had to go out an buy a new ball. This time he coated it with oil so paint won't stick.
And the moral of the story is .... in politics morals don't always count!
Oh - I am over the election. I am just worried about the future.

Interesting story!
One of the most useful statements I committed to memory during my years as a city councilmember was this: "It may be legal, but it's not odor-free."
The church I grew up in taught us to avoid the very appearance of evil.
I honestly will predict that this election mess will come back to haunt the Bushes. I believe in Karma. I believe that you get what you give, and that what goes around comes around.

mrssanta...it's a very nice story, but I don't think Al was taught too much about morals when he was growing up. He has a tendency to change the version of the truth to suit himself when necessary. He also seems to suffer from selective memory, especially when he is exposed to enormous amounts of iced tea.

Karma yes - all good and all bad you do comes back to you. I think of that BEFORE i take revenge. It usually scares me off!

Why are you talking about morals and politics at the same time?
Politicians come in somewhere below whores and just slightly above armed robbers on the moral scale. They don't point a gun at you - they just constantly remind you they have guys to do that for them if you don't do what they want.

Dear njrazd, blah blah blah! A typical Republican defense when there is no good one. That's why you gotta luv those Republicans.
