My kids computer somehow became infected with the FunLove virus. The system has been having trouble, which we attributed to the fact that it has taken a jolt a few days ago which knocked off a jumper for the CMOS battery.
We have a home network, and my portable popped up with a warning from Norton anti-virus tonight, warning of the FunLove virus, which it cleaned etc. On doing some reading, and searching the main system and then the kids, we found theirs with this virus.
It doesn't destroy data, but it does attach itself to any .exe, .ocx, and .scr files, causing them to grow larger and larger with each reboot. It also spreads itself over a network, hence the attempt to gain access to my portable. My understanding is that on an NT system it is much more devestating.
Search your systems for flcss.exe, it would be in your Windows/System folder. If you have that file, you've got this virus. You'll need a clean boot disk with virus scanners loaded on it to clean the system from DOS.

When we ran the virus bootscan disk on the infected system, it took about 1/2 hour to clean each and every .exe, .ocx, and .scr file on the system.
At least now we know why the machine was running oddly the last two days. Each reboot activated the virus again, and due to other troubles we had been rebooting often. If I hadn't just updated the DAT files on my portable and the main desktop system, they would no doubt be infected as well.
The kids system didn't have a virus program on it yet because my son had just reformated last week and had not loaded Norton on it yet.
