Ok, the (Presidential) election is over. If you are one of those (which I am) that feels the election was 'stolen' - well, I have one question.

What do we do now???

I don't want to 'do nothing' but I don't really have any idea what 'to do'.

Any suggestions???

Obviously I missed a thread. This is already being discussed elsewhere.

Sorry.

Give me coup or revolution season in the Caribbean . Bloodless, polite, and calypso songs celebrating or sending up the event. Carnival after the coup. And there's always the stray chicken....

take two aspirin for that fever krs and you'll be feeling better and able to read your political news with clear eyes again.
Liquids, aspirin, and rest are recommended so you can get back to your usual political threads.

then it will be politics as usual

of course if your fever continues unabated pretty soon you could be leading the coup. or did Borillar leave on the bus already for Washington without you? hurry, you can still catch up!

Junkson,We never knew when Bush was around,Unless it was time to fry someone. And when he hinted he would run.Bush went thru 40
million dollars in campaign funds very quickly,And hit the good ole boys up for more.Bush knows,he has paybacks,And will try to get them all done in the first 4 years.
Chances are slim for him to get 4 more,The ego, will get him in trouble, with both sides. The new Gov.makes me nervous.Cant explaine it.I would never buy a used car from him.I miss our Ms.Ann! Ann Richards, knew how to be a Governor.

oh junquemama, Ann Richards is a doll! I'm a Californian (used to be a Texan, for awhile anyway), but I used to fantasize that Ann Richards was my REAL grandma. So much more fun than the one I had. I guess that's disloyal, huh?

KatyD,Ms.Ann spent a lot of time in Calif.promoting Texas for the film and music industry. We are now called the third coast.
Ms.Ann was a sweetie to all,I met here at a State auction,(She was the comptroller for the State)Before being the Gov.I had to ask her a favor,For a relative who had just bought up a huge amount of jewelry.Ms.Ann looked me square in the eye,With those big eyes,And her beautiful smile and said ,No problem Darl'in.Did not know me ,from Adam.
I have been a fan of hers, ever since. We knew we had a Gov.with her around.I can see why you adopted her.

Ms. Ann had something Dubya will never have, a personality! I always thought she was a little over the top but at least she was real. I'm not sure that Dubya is real.

Those who feel that they must leave the US because Bush was elected (At least that's what Alec Baldwin and others said) I hear that Liberia is underpopulated right now.

Belize has a large english speaking population.

There are a number of "Stans" in the Former Soviet States that have a lot of promise for a person who hates being an American now and is willing to start fresh. ("Carjackistan" is lovely this time of year)

The only thing certain is that if Gore had been appointed president - that the screaching would be the same - just different authors

nutspec - You're 100% right when you say that "if Gore had been appointed president - that the screaching would be the same - just different authors"

That's exactly the point - neither should have been 'appointed' by the Supreme Court. They're supposed to be *elected*.

That is the beauty of this whole thing. The even handed - stomaching churning - dogs breakfast - hairball-of-an-election-in-Florida allows all sides to scream and howl at the moon if it went against their own feelings.

If Gore had won based on two recounts that went for Bush and a hand recounted one based on only 3 Democratic counties and their "I think that somebody sneezed on this one and that shows intent" policies - - - Then Republicans would howl - - and rightfully so.

The way Bush won - causes the same sorts of cramps in the guts of other people. They howl now about how this was "stolen" - and perhaps rightfully so.

Neither man would have been able to claim any trace or wisp of a mandate after the mess in Florida.

We would not have any of this noise if Gore had carried his own home state or if Arkansas had gone Democratic for the 3rd time in a row. There would have been a clear winner.

We frequently have to chose the "lesser of two evils" in politics - - This year we were stuck with the "Evil of two lessers"
