I'm curious why message boards are so popular.
I post to two boards and read others. I've got to know the many personalities presented on these boards and the one common denominator seems to be the plain and simple need for human interaction.
Can I presume that we have become such a disconnected nomadic society, that our lack of human interaction has led us to reach out into cyber-space for validation?
Why do you post?
To feel connected? It is obvious to me that some people post to get their messages or their views heard on subjects that are important to them.
Some post to say things that they would never say in real life, to shock, or to inflame.
Others are lonely and just need human contact.
You have to wonder what would make someone post to a message board 24/7 , 20-30 posts a day at times.

No Classic, I haven't seen that movie.
I know you Normie baby up close and personal. who's your favorite Democrat?

Classic's favorite Democrat is probably someone with whom he lives in close proximity to. I mean just knowing him and that's prolly what he'd say.

Generally if someone asks a question of others but they themselves don't give their own answer to kick it off then I usually won't answer them.
It just seems like a kind of discourtesy to ask others questions that they aren't willing to first tell about themselves. I mean it seems to be that way on a message board but in RL, in person that might be a different story. There's someone here that does this all the time and it gets kinda agrivating at times.
So Bebeboom, i'd be interested in hearing you answer your own question, which you really didn't do in your opening post. Why do you post?

Fair enough. I post for fun and it's a diversion from boredom. I also have the urge to reach out and cyber-touch people. I also enjoy reading what others have to say, except the attention whores who need to monopolize every conversation, if you know what I mean.
How about you?

Your answer pretty much sums up the reasons why I post as well. I too like reading what others say and since no one can do anything about the attention whores because they will post as they see fit for themselves, I find it kinda interesting to study them instead of just loathing their continual rants.
I came to realise a long time ago that peoples opinions on message boards will not change when it comes to politics and so I gave up, for the most part, discussing politics. Instead I have more focused on the funny and what I find humorous about what people say.
