Dick Morris: Hillary Discourages Donors to Other Dems

U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton is actively discouraging potential donors from contributing to any of the announced Democrat presidential candidates, so they'll have political cash on hand if she decides to run next year.

So says Dick Morris, who pointed to a meeting two weeks ago between Bill and Hillary Clinton and 150 party fat cats held at the former first couple's mansion in Chappaqua, N.Y.

"When she had that meeting with her money people up in Westchester, one of the functions was to tell everybody to stay out of the race – not to give money to anybody else," Morris told WABC Radio's Monica Crowley on Saturday.

In fact, one former mega-donor to Bill Clinton's past presidential campaigns came to the Chappaqua soiree convinced Hillary wasn't running, but left believing she could change her mind.

"Some people might have been left with the impression that there's always a possibility [that Hillary might run]," said John Catsimatidis, founder of the Gristedes supermarket chain. "I was."

Aside from any private utterances, Catsimatidis and the rest of the guests were treated to Sen. Clinton's announcement that she'd like all present to stay on board "for my next campaign, whatever that might be."

Morris predicted that the former first couple would "float the rumor of her candidacy at various points to slow down the momentum of other candidates" – and thereby keep the party open to a Hillary Clinton candidacy.

"If she feels Bush is going to lose, then she has to get into this race," he told Crowley. "She has to be there as the viable alternative if Bush is going to be defeated."

If Hillary runs for President, she will lose and it will make her a liar going in... something you all are accusing President Bush of.

So I guess if by some miracle she won, she would have an open path to lie as much as she wanted, because people voted for her knowing that she already had a penchant for lying.

She has repeatedly said she would finish out her term as senator.
AIN'T LIFE GRAND...

Hillary, will be drafted at the Democratic Convention as the Democratic Candidate. What better way to become the Candidate.

Should this not happen, she will run for the office in 2008, semi-unopposed during the Primary.

The Fab 11 (Hillary # 11) is a test run, using the primary's results to build the Democratic platform, for her draft in 2004 or run in 2008.

Actually, Bear... I've never been a purveyor of sleaze. I use mainstream media stories
to start threads about political issues and, as you should know, mainstream media is
far from liberal. In fact, papers such as the New York Times and the Washington Post
have served as conduits for Bush propaganda. You should read them and then maybe
you could come up with a meaningful statement every now and then.

I guess it depends on what you consider "mainstream". I don't think the largest newspapers in the country have an ADMITTED liberal or conservative bias, although some are considered to be one or the other. The Washington Post, often regarded as liberal, has George F. Will as a columnist. Nowhere will you find the Post proclaiming itself a liberal publication. By the same token, Fox claims to be "fair and balanced", yet it is often seen as the mouthpiece for Rupert Murdoch's brand of ultra-conservatism. NewsMax, on the other hand, makes no bones about being conservative. They say it all over their webpage and in their print magazine. By virtue of this, I'd hardly call them unbiased, and therefore, not mainstream . The same is true of the New Republic and others on the other side of the fence. If you want to read them, great, I do too. But "mainstream"? Hardly.

I think Hillary would make a great President, but I wonder how Bill would feel, living in the White House again, but now being called First Man?

With these 2 in charge again, there might be hope afterall...!

P.S. I love your way of wording things, Prof!

Hillarys got to do it now or never, in 2008, she'll be history. So, I think if she is going to run for Prez at all, its got to be this time; 2004. Will she win? ........hmmm
I doubt it.

Dick Morris is a character who dislikes Hillary Clinton. It's been reported that the claim that he made in this news story, about not giving money to anyone else, was left out of the same story that Morris told on Fox News The O'Reilly Factor. (Sept. 8). Isn't that strange?

Anyway, Hillary has stated over and over that she is not running for president. Isn't it interesting that these stories about her plans originate from conservative Republican sources?

I went shopping today and women were cutting in line and cutting people off in the parking lots with their cars. A real ruthless gender! Carly of Intel and Meg of ebay are ruthless as well. I don't think I ever want a female in the White House.
