Does anyone know what this is used for? Its about 29" long on a steel rod, pointed at the end, probably to stick in the ground. The green thingy at the top has notches at either end.

Not a golfer, but my guess it's a stiff arm to protect clubs in the bag?

what are on the ends of the black things - could it be used to pick up ball? (my father for example had bad knees and was not able to pick up his ball). Could it hold a bunch of balls in the tube? Could be used to pick up balls on the putting green?

the black things have groves in the middle. Tom thinks it is to put in the ground to hold two golf clubs so as not to lay them on the wet ground.
here's some more pics. This was my yard sale find this morning. Rainy and cold but worth it.

I keep looking at the picture trying to figure out anything golf about it. niel, are you sure it's some kind of golf equipment.

Yes, Jane - as it came from a fellow who had a golf shop, hence all the other equipment.

Ok, guess there's a lot more to golf than tees, clubs & balls. Never saw anything like it.

Hmmm I've never seen one of these! I tried googling and ebay search and couldn't find one either as a "golf club stand" or "putter stand". It does look like the notches were made to hold a club though. The other things in the display all look like ball retrievers of one type or another.

Maybe one would use this at a driving range to hold a couple of clubs instead of bringing the whole bag. I can't think how you would use it in normal play - perhaps when putting to hold your wedge or pitching iron while you putt so you don't forget a club in the grass (been there done that).

I asked my DH to take a look as he is an avid golfer and works at a golf course part time but he said he'd never seen anything like it. He just wanted to know what else you had

Does it happen to have a patent number on it anywhere?

It's a PORTABLE STAND fot TWO CLUBS to keep them from just laying in the GRASS & getting wet from the DEW...

Ya stick the doo-hickey's bottom sharp point into the ground, and then ya SNAP the shaft of one of yer clubs into the open end at the top...Since there are TWO "snap-holders," at the top, it can hold TWO clubs...

Actually pretty ingenious, and especially useful if one is playing without a caddy...

Course, Ralphie opines that he prefers RIDING IN a caddy, as opposed to PLAYING WITH a caddy, but that just goes to prove...
