Yikes!
I've used magnifying glass...
Here's a blow-up at 800dpi...
and I still cannot decide: is that the photo's GRAIN, or is it NOT a real photo?
I'm learning...

THANKS ALL!

Don't think it's a RPPC. Erase the penciled things (booth # and price at antique shop probably)Very nice pc though - include the enlargements to show detail

tomwiii, I don't see half tone dots that are very regular, however, there are some printing processes that use random dots. Against real photo - that the back does not look like a typical real-photo post card paper. For real photo - the identification appears to be scratched into the surface which would suggest photo emulsion.

Try scanning a tiny area at 1200 dpi. Could be a collotype- they don't have dots either.

My vote is for real photo. It's a great card, no matter what it is. Edited to add, the back is shown as an unknown manufacturer stampbox on Playle's Real Photo backs 1905-1906. http://www.playle.com/realphoto/photoall.htm
P.S. In my experience, printed photos scanned at 1200 dpi are far less legible than when they are scanned at 100 dpi (i.e.; the words on the freight cars). Real photos are more legible at 1200 dpi.

The scratched title has the distinctive look of scratched emulsion with the little "snibbles" in the lines. If Pixi found that back listed with a real photo card It seems likely to me.
The subject is what will be the biggest selling point. If you can identify the RR lines and they are small, extinct lines be sure to mention them. I sold some RR things that belonged to my father. I almost fainted when a little porter's cap badge closed for over $300. It was from a small RR that had gone out of business years ago and collectors for that RR were avid for anything connected with it. I was able to sell the winning bidder some other things I had as well.

I think it is the Pennsylvania Railroad. I see the name Pennsylvania on one boxcar and I think on others it says PRR. That is an interesting postcard. I hope it does good for you.

BTW, Tom. your postcard listings are great. You need to, however spell the country out on the title. FR will unlikely be found by France collectors. The postcard categories do not map internationally, so you need to depend on keyword title searches.

How about using Swiss at the keyword?

Swiss won't work - you need to think like a buyer - how would he/she do a title search (most do not search by t&d)? My husband collects Swiss postcards and I know he uses "Switzerland" and not "Swiss" in his search.
I do use the item specifics for new listings now that Vendio has them. I have Firefox set to remember forms so I just need to put the first letter in (usually) and the wording I want appears! It's great! I do Switzerland in the title and Schweiz, Suisse, Svizzera in IS, (This is in the Ebay suggested part of IS under "location"
I make custom IS for
"Product" (postcard, post card, pc and the word in the language of the country for postcard ie: carte postale, tarjeta postal, cartolina postale, bilhete postal, ansichtskarte),
Type: divided back, undivided back, white border, linen, chrome, RPPC
Topic: main street view, motel, hotel, children etc etc
Period: Try to date PC
Publisher I don't always use this)
Artist: (I don't always use this)
I don't know how ebay is going to use custom IS - right now they are just appearing in a t&d search but down the line they could become more important and hopefully elevate to title search
