There are a whole BUNCH of really FANTASTIC and KIND and GENEROUS folks here in the EO who are sending me and Ralphie super-neato (NTM: kean-o) items to sell on feeBay!

One of these FANTASTICALLY GENEROUS folks has given us a selection of DESIGNER HANDBAGS that sure look REAL tp me and Ralphie (his KEEN schnazola detects the odor of REAL LEATHER)...

My DIL, a fashion maven if ever there was, examined them yesterday and declared the whole group (8) as GENUINE...

Some have TAGS, and some do NOT...

Some appear to be missing minor pieces...

ALL are simply GORGEOUS!

So, my DUMB question:

Have any of YOUSE EXPERTS out there in VD-LAND ever sold anything like these?

Is it KOSHER to list?

Take a gander at the first one I'm realy to list, and PLEASE tell us what ya think:

ALSO: are the PICS ok?

THANKS EVERYBODY!

Tom & Ralphie

It looks like a fairly well made fake to me BUT I carry all my crap around in a paper bag so what do I know?

Do you ever post on eBay boards? The ladies (mostly ladies, some men too) at the purse board are very knowledgeable and very helpful.

If they are FAKE, then they are AWFULY GOOD ones!

Why make a FAKE out of real leather with such outstanding craftsmanship?

If one examines the stitching, etc, it becomes obvious that these are QUALITY items...Are there QUALITY FAKES out there?

BTW: for numerous reasons, I stay far away from the "pinks" and their "boards"....

I'd rather bother the EXPERTS here, who, at least, are mostly my (& Ralphie's) FRIENDS!

Someone wrote a guide on spotting a fake LV.

The craftsmanship is good, not outstanding. I would not expect to see untrimmed threads or crookedly placed feet on a genuine LV bag. Not to mention that the paper tag just screams Made In China and new LV bags are sold with tags tucked in, not attached.

Here's an multi-part eBay guide that addresses LV specifically.

Here is something else to read

How to Tell if Your Louis Vuitton is Fake

By: The Budget Fashionista (Little_personView Profile)

Many unsuspecting budget fashionistas spend up to $1000 on “authentic” LV bags that turn out to be fakes. Before purchasing your bag, read these basic rules to determine whether or not it is fake.

1. If it claims to be “brand new” and costs less than $300, most likely it is fake.

2. If the “LV” logo is upright on both sides, it might be a fake.

3. If it’s “brand new” and being sold on eBay or Yahoo! Auctions, there is a good chance it’s fake.

4. If the piping is not leather, it is fake

5. If the seams are uneven, frayed, the monogram is off or the bag is poorly sewn, it is definitely fake.

6. If there is no date code (a.k.a date number) provided or if the seller is reluctant to provide a date code or receipt, it could be fake.

7. If it’s a new bag and the bag’s handle is a different color leather than that of the piping, it’s fake.

8. If the seller doesn’t allow returns, most likely it’s fake.

9. If you bought it in your local Chinatown or from a street vendor, it’s fake.

10. If the dust cover has rounded edges and/or it doesn’t come with a dust cover, it’s fake.

11. If the bag has a hanging tag (of any type) or a bright yellow tag or envelope, it’s definitely a fake.

12. If you bought the bag on an ecommerce site other than eluxury.com (be careful of eBay), it’s fake.

Whoops!

I should have said the following in the original post!

But...

There's 100 different ways an EXPERT can prove or disprove one of these handbags as GENUINE or a KNOCK-OFF...

My plan was to list them for $9.99 each, with ONLY a generic description, such as:

RED LADIES HANDBAG

My question really is: "Can I list them as just plain ole ladies handbags, never mentioning "brand" or anything else I can't prove or disprove?"

They really are beautiful, and well worth $10 -$50...

But since I have no record of their origin, I never planned to mention name...

Or should I just dump the whole idea?

Tis a shame -- if you saw them in person...My DIL was a'sighing and a'drooling...

Course, Ralphie has that affect on most women, the little devil...

I don't think it's a good idea to list them on ebay. It might be more trouble for you since the bags are marked LV and could be picked up as offering fakes even if your not mentioning the name.

I don't believe your even allowed to offer fakes of any designers

Oh well...

Ralphie's giving me dirty looks, while muttering under his doggy breath:

"Phooey to Louie!"

Are they all orange? Do they all have visible designer labels? How about setting up VD/Inkfrog/Auctiva store and never mention name of designer. I'd probably buy one if they are well made - I don't give a hoot about having a gen-u-ine LV bag. How about ecrater? (its free)

"Are they all orange?"

Whoopsie!

The color is HOTLIPS RED!

I changed all the bulbs in our hovel to FLUORESCENT and I forgot to adjust the white balance in my camers (my bad)...

Ralphie and I are...GREEN (especially on his birthday: ST PATRICK'S DAY)...

...To answer yer QUESTION, NO, they are assorted designs -- some "LOGO" and some two-tone leather (Del Rio)...

I'll post a pic of the Bontwit Yeller beaded evening bag in a minute...

Nice bags but I don't have a thing in my wardrobe to go with them.

I would list them with the name thats on the tags and a LARGE diclaimer that you are not sure of their origins.

Such disclaimers are a fast track to a naru.

"Sellers may not disclaim knowledge of, or responsibility for, the authenticity or legality of the items offered in their listings.Sellers should take steps to ensure that their items are authentic before listing them on eBay. If a seller cannot verify the authenticity of an item, the seller is not permitted to list it."

This is a heavily watched category on eBay. There are many people searching specifically for fake bags and then reporting them. Tom just got reinstated. He does not need another naru.

"Ralphie's Roundup of Weird & Rascally Widgets"

...for a while now, and NOW is the time to do it!

So, tomorrow we two guys are getting up at the CRACK of DAWN (nice crack, Dawn) and putting our noses to the grindstone (oh stop yer yelping, DOG! It don't hurt THAT much) and create our new & marvelous...

RETAIL WONDERLAND!

Ye all will get a SPECIAL INVITATION to Ralphie's GRAND OPENING! (virtual victuals will be served...)

I'm not sure if your saying the bags were given to you outright or if your selling them for someone else.

If your selling for someone else then I certainly would not put them up on eBay, good advice from neglus, ecrater
The ones you posted pics of are beautiful & I too wouldn't hesitate to buy a knockoff.
Those Chinese can do nice work, they are very good looking.

When you list be sure to measure the size & if a handbag or shoulder strap.

The bag looks very red to me.

Your pictures couldn't be better. Now just tell me you used a Sony Mavica & did you use a flash.

I had no idea you could sell replicas.

Edited to add:
Or that they sold for this much. You might do very well with your 8 purses.

If someone gave you 8 brand new ones for free, they are most likely fake.

Let me know when you put the beaded bag on ecrater. That would be a great gift for my sister, who still drags out the purdy duds whenever the opportunity presents.

I have a store on ecrater just for soda industry ads. It does pretty well. It's free and pretty easy. No bells or whistles and the pictures are funny (square).

The forums have a lot of info on how to set them up.

Tom: Do you have a vendio account that gives you a free store? If so, you could just use that.

Great that you're getting all this in-kind support. But I'm curious what the sender of these bags has to say? Wouldn't that have been the logical first step, or did I miss something here? A real friend if they know anything about designer handbags and eBay, most likely would not have sent you anything that would be questionable, would they?

birgittaw:

NO -- it was TRULY kind & generous of her to sell me (at a VERY SMALL price) these bags, and we both knew it was a gamble...

It's a real shame, rthough, as they are really beautiful...

Now I'm really looking forward to opening RALPHIE'S STORE!

Aha! Guess you are Ralphie are going to learn how to fish then. (You know, the old saying about giving someone a fish versus teaching them how to). Good luck!

Looks like you're having a very good time with the post cards! Nothing like something new to put some life into the old dog(s).
