A friend has asked me to sell this gorgeous item for her. Marked "Bavaria," it's 13" wide and seems in perfect condition.
Question: Would you call it a compote? How would you describe the curved edge? And I know there's a term for those punched-out handles.
The signature appears to be Giovani. Any other ideas?

Thanks for all the information.
Does the signature look like Giovani to any of you? (I've usually seen it spelled "Giovanni," but not sure here.)
The beading looks like gold to me but I wouldn't know if it was "fired gold." I do plan to mention the oranges and orange blossoms. And it may well be transfer with painted accents! I see painted accents, but the rest of the decor is flat.
Max: I failed to mention that this dish is 2" deep; that's why I was calling it a compote. It's definitely not a tray. See below.
