Is anyone charging less for shipping now that the 5 star system is in place?
i am hesitate to charge what i feel is a fair price (like .50 for handling)unless the items are very large.

Absolutely not!! I'm not about to lose money because of that stupid star system. If they don't like what I charge for shipping, they have the option to not bid.

I will continue to charge a buck for packaging, as my materials haven't gotten any cheaper. I never had a complaint about shipping being too expensive in the past, but now with postage being higher, I'll probably hear from someone.
The star system doesn't bother me, as everyone is in the same boat.

I don't think any of the top sellers are doing more than 4 stars in shipping. Most small sellers should stay 4.5-5.0, so no one should really be affected.
I just think it is stupid that ebay is trying to give bidders another reason not to bid.

Not even if they give me an extra star. Most buyers are not aware of the shipping cost going up so they will think it is to high even if you don't charge a handling fee.

Nope, still going to charge for materials and may even hike it another 50 cents because of gas. Fluffy, I want that car!! It is sooooo cute.

No, I figured if they were going to give me 4.8 when I charged just what it cost me, I might as well get something out of the deal...so I just raised the s/h from .50 to $1.25 over the acutal cost, depending on how much time it takes to pack, and how much for the packing materials. I figured I should get something over the agravation I felt when I saw that go to 4.8.

I usually charge $2-$3 for most items. Less for something like a Tyco car that's easy to pack, much more for something like a multi-piece set of china.
If they don't like it, they don't have to bid.
For what it's worth, I'm at 4.4/5 on shipping charges (4.8 on shipping time, and 4.9 on the others).

Charging less for shipping? No way. If anything, I increased my shipping. I pay for envelopes, cardboard inserts, paper (for packing slips and mailing labels), ink for the printer, glue stick, shipping tape, rubber stamps & ink, markers, gas, plus my time. Not to mention that now with the postal increase and changes, my items are now non-machineable which increased the shipping even more.
As for the star system, I could care less. I should have nothing less than 5 stars for communication as I send out invoices at the close of auctions, payment received notifications, and shipping notifications, as well as answer all of the e-mails I receive. The star system is such a crock!

I'm not lowering mine either but I may take a lost on some shipping in my store. I could edit every items but time is money so I would rather just do new listings and eat some on shipping.

Not in a million years. I have increased my handling charge way up. On average, $5.00 per item. Many times, this don't cover the ebay and PayPal fees.
You want to buy from me on eBay? It's going to cost you.
Now buy from me from the other sites and don't use PayPal, handling fee $1.00 or less.

I am charing more so I can cover as I alsways did, shipping/material/handling/fees/
I went to a web site to order a very thin and light weight item, you could have blown it to me thats how light it was, well they were charging me 8.49 to ship this small light weight clothing item. So I didn't buy it cause it was way too inflated for shipping.
Never take a loss on any item you sell, but what I will do is lower my starting bid maybe a very little if I can and raise my shipping.
