I have a friend that owns a house on the Suwannee River. She wants to rent it out.
I used to work for a guy that had a St Augustine condo which he rented out for 3 to 4 weeks at a time to Canadians on vacation. He said they made good renters and come back every year once they like a place. I don't remember who he advertised with now. Can someone suggest a good Canadian paper for listing a vacation rental?

LadyJ, I used to rent my beach house here in Florida. I found the two best places to advertise for me were the Atlanta Journal and a sign in the front yard.

It is a little late for you friend, but it has been my experience that the Canadians would book their rental a year in advance. I usually had my house rented for next year before the Canadians left at the end of the season.

To keep it booked for summer rentals, II only had to run 2 weekend ads in the Journal and usually booked the whole season.

No offense to the Canadians on the board but too many of the Canadian renters were PITAs! They all wanted to give me half of my asking rate and then get mad because I needed them out by SPring Break. I had taxes and insurance payments that cost me more than they were willing to pay for rental. Sorry for the rant. Thank Goodness my rental days are over!

Thanks - that will give her a start anyway. I guess she will do some advertising online as well.

LtRay - a sign in the yard would never be seen. This place is way off the beaten path but there is an RV park near by where she could advertise I guess. I don't think summer will be a problem at all as she has access to the Gulf near Horseshoe Beach. The scalloping & fishing will keep her booked all summer. Maybe all year. The view will take your breath away.
