Does this mean you will be able to see what other items your bidders are currently bidding on???
This week, we'll be making the following adjustments to SMI:...
"2. Sellers can use Advanced Search to research potential buyers. Sellers will be able to use Advanced Search to conduct full research on their current bidders for a 48 hour period after the bid is placed. In addition, they will also be able to research the activity of any member who sends them an Ask Seller a Question email or uses Best Offer within a 48 hour period of the email/offer being sent."

It sounds like a reduction to me. That option already exists in advanced search. It used to be for 30 days. Now only 48 hours.
Wow ebay, anything you can do to hurt sellers, you sure do find the way.

I think you'll still be able to see 30 days of past purchases. It sounds to me that you'll have 48 hours to look at active bids.

For the past couple of weeks I have tried to check out some new bidders and nothing showed up on a lot of them...not even their bids on my items.
WOW...a whole 48 hours compared to the previous 30 days!
I guess the next step will be:-
'We will charge your account for the privilege of doing 'due diligence' on the people you are doing business with'

Could it mean that you will be able to see their bids, even if they are over the 200.00 threshold that hides the bidder identity?
When eBay introduced that, those bids did not show up when searching bidder activity.

I stand corrected. I forgot about that stupid new screwed up policy. So it would be a step forward, but would fall into the "100 steps backwards for every one step forward" saying.

No, ebay no longer allows you to see what others are currently bidding on. They did away with that some time ago. (you can see what they've won, but can't see the items they are currently bidding on)

this blurb was taken from the town hall meeting. the question was in regards to the bidder 1-2-3-4 crap that is in place now.
and if you get a best offer from a bottom feeder. they have now set it up that you only get a partial name not the complete name. e-bay will allow us (knee bent, eyes down cast) to check on the person trying to fleece us on a bid.
One day they are going to throw a party and no one will come!
