I have this carved wooden eagle to list, but I am not sure what kind it is. In my bird books it is closest to a bald eagle, but not quite.

Looks like a parrot to me. Not an eagle tho.

Looks like a hawk to me also rather than an eagle. Not a native variety either

I checked hawks, but they all had heads very close to their shoulders, only eagles had this kind of neck. It also has the leg feathers.

Just call it a bird of prey. Since it looks to have been carved overseas probably in an Asian country (Indonesia?), it is hard to detirmine what sort of Raptors they have there and ofcourse the carver could have taken some artistic license as stated. The white feathers above the eyes might be a clue if you care to do any intensive reseach.

Thanks buyhigh, I think I will put all the options in my description. It has beautifully detailed painting, the feathers look real.

You could list it in the oddities category and call it the worlds largest blue bird.
Not everyone in the Hawk and Falcon family has short necks. The Crested Caracara has a very long neck for a bird of prey and is of the Falcon family.
Personally I agree with amber. It looks like something someone took alot of artistic license with.
