In health news tonight, we're getting reports that Popeye is in critical condition after contracting E. Coli from a nasty batch of spinach that's plaguing the U.S. Olive Oyl refused to comment on the condition of her man, though Nancy Grace did call her a poisonous, cartoon-killing murderer.

I know it is off subject and does not have anything to do with feeBay!

I am not affected at all by the spinach being pulled from shelves. The only spinach I inhale is spinach dip. It is the only spinach by-product that I like.

I will always remember those that simple went to work one Tuesday morning

I love spinach and we eat a lot of it around here. I won't now. All the more reason to start growing your own produce if you can.

But I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger (instead of spinach!) today....

Hah, and they're suggesting if we're not sure about the spinach in the bag, that we wash it in warm water. As if that would take care of e.coli. I'm told, though, that if we cook the spinach (instead of having it raw), that should take care of the problem.

I know bagged greens like that are more convenient, but I've never really trusted their safety and almost never buy them.

so THAT'S why I couldn't find any spinach in the produce section in 2 stores today! Except organic which was twice the price! Bummer!

oddly enough they don't seem concerned about the fancy 'blends' of bagged salads that have spinach in them. Had a huge argument with DH who said 'obviously that spinach comes from somewhere else'. I am not completely convinced that is true.

We completely stopped buying bag veggies during the last outbreak, which concerned lettuce. I'm not willing to take that chance. I got food poisoning from lettuce and I don't want it again! I got it from a salad I ordered at Georgios. It was the only thing I had to eat that day. Ken had one, too, and we both got sick. Try convincing Georgios. All they could say was you don't get sick from lettuce. Ya, right.
