My first week of listings in over 3 months.
Newbie (registered today) uses BIN. My hunch is they won't pay. I do a search on their history and find they have used BIN on 5 other items in the last 30 minutes. Each of which are around $300.
My item is a 60's Pop Art Chair, the other items are a vintage stove, antique sewing machines and an antique sewing machine accessory.
So, what do you think? Am I quick to assume? I've been a seller for almost 7 years, and I just have a sneaky hunch this is a deadbeat.
I requested their contact info, but haven't yet called b/c I didn't want to feel pushy. I would prefer to simply relist it immediately if I know they aren't going to pay. What would you do?

It's a long shot, but what if this is a designer? Then those purchases would make sense, would they not? I wouldn't worry yet.

Well, my hunch proved correct. I called the phone number and some guy with an Arabic accent answered. There was alot of noise in the background (people talking). It sounded like a call center. I asked for the buyer and he pretended he couldn't understand me and hung up. I will be reporting this to ebay right away.

What would you do?
Tell myself I needed to wake up because it couldn't possibly be happening to me.
I now require immediate payment on all BINs.
Isn't it tough enough to do business on eBay without allowing random horse-hineys to jack you around?
The last time this happened to me it was a sorehead who had opened another account for the express purpose of shutting me down. Ended all my BINs.
I don't need to learn this lesson twice. Do you?

Ok, here is the latest update. I get the following message from the bidder... Like any of us are stupid enough to fall for this crap. I get these emails all the time for Craigslist too.

Turn him in to ebay too. That is just weird now they ruin a good auction and pull that stupid wanting to pay in their own way not yours. I think that is a reason for filing early NPB thingy?? Forward their email to ebay not the spoof one but online email form maybe they will jerk him off line.
What is his user name so we can all block him. Or item number him as winner.

They are already NARU. The real question is how will ebay handle it? It is obviously a fraudulent scam. I suspect ebay will only suspend them and move on. I doubt they will turn over the records and proof to the proper authorities like the FBI who would handle this type of fraud.

Doesn't matter if they do hand it over to the FBI, they will give it to the Nigerian Embassy, and they will swallow it. The scams support the economy in Nigeria (I think I heard it is the third biggest export, after oil and something else). The Nigerian economy would collapse if the scams were to stop (or if Americans would stop being so gullible). Ask them to send the Money order with $10 in their currancy for exchange fees. They have to make up the money order, Mail it ($), mail you cash ($), and then they get nothing... If everyone asked them to at least send the money order and not send anything back, then in the end they would have to stop... it would be too expensive.
Read Scamorama.com for more ideas on what to do with these guys.
