While I was shopping I ran across this in someones description. The item is a VERY rare HTF piece of American Art pottery. It should be in the thousands when it closes. It has no bids... rather put me off the way its stated.I have this seller book marked we have done business in the past. I almost feel like I should write to him and say "the object is to get their money from their pocket into yours ... suck it up and answer the questions."
"Now, I am not an expert, just like beautiful things.....everything is on the bottom of the vase....If anything is incorrect, I am sure I will receive emails with a strong reprimand.....experts....in all due respect, other than signature, please use your experience to choose to bid or not bid as your information is usless to me"

190026422882 - $500 starting bid, reserve not met. Not sure about a value in the thousands; although the early Rookwood production is scarce, it also does not appeal to many collectors. Early wares and Standard glazes are pretty dead right now; hot items are the vellum and other unusual motifs/glazes.
I don't think the seller was particularly rude; he is probably just fed up with dumb questions, and comments from people knocking the item (but willing to take it off his hands at a lower price).

I owned that Roseville Futura planter at one time; I think I paid $325 for it. He almost certainly wants too much unless the market has zoomed and I'm not aware of it.
It doesn't help that the picture of the Futura piece clearly shows a large rim chip, when he is claiming mint condition.

sthoemke I'm sorry you misunderstood my comment ... I'm not complaining... I just thought the way he chose to word his comments about taking questions was a BIT abrasive. As I said I have done business with this man in the past and found him quite easy to deal with. Nice product/service ect.On this listing however I just found his wording not appropiate. We all take ... how many.... DUMB questions about sales every day. It's part of the game. As I said get their money from thier pocket to yours is the bottom line.
Damariscotta... I do agree that if it were a vellum piece it would command more at the moment... however just the AVB signature is not to be taken lightly. There simply is not a lot of his Rookwood work available on the open market. Some of our standard glaze pieces are amoung my favorites. We have collected Art Pottery for 20+ years and have quite a number of dated Van Briggle pieces.... We'll see where this goes.
