A friend wants me to sell a platter for her. The mark is: "K.T.&K.", which I know means Knowles Taylor and Knowles. Underneath those letters is a strange mark: "S-----V." Any clues? Last mark is "China." I've looked at what Replacements has and see no pattern with S---V as the name so am at a loss as to what this could mean.

FABulous! Makes sense. Thank you so much, LtRay! Can I answer any questions for you? Who to vote for? What beach to go to? What to order at McDonald's?

Don't need any answers, just send me a one way ticket to your mountain. It is too darn HOT here in FL.

(and quit calling us potties!)

Years ago when I actually tried to get information from the eBay pottery board (unsuccessfully, I might add), they all called each other potties. I've been wanting to use that term all this time, and voila.

Wish I could send you a ticket to our mountains. 70s, low humidity, sunny, light breezes. Perfect.

Roadsmith...Don't forget to mention that in order to get to that beautiful 70 degree temperature at the top, they have to start out at the bottom. It's presently 107 degrees down there

Oh how true, Sparkz! Any direction we go off the mountains, it's HOT. Temecula, one way, Hemet another, Banning another, and Palm Springs WAY HOT. One of the reasons we all get cranky when we have to "go off the hill" in the warmer weather. We're spoiled.

I am spoiled too, Adele. It is a lovely 72 with a wonderful breeze here in Huntington Beach. I don't go anywhere when the weather warms up. My dad lives in Temecula, mom lives in Pasadena, come warmer weather, I don't visit them until Novermber. Bad daughter!!

Mamachia: Our daughter lives in Huntington Beach. Loves being there. Not too crazy about June gloom but I don't think it's started yet? She and the family like to come up and use our cabin near here on weekends, but she's also a real ocean/beach girl, and you couldn't pry her away from the coast on a permanent basis.

We have a cabin in the TN mountains. I was there for a week last month. Average temps 45 at night to 70 in the day. Then I spent a month in KY with Dad. Temps were in the 70's. Then I come home to 85-95. I used to love the FL heat, but now it is killing me. I must be getting old.

Back to original pottery discussion...

Roadsmith, did you ask on the eBay pottery board where you have to register to post or the one (as I remember it) where anyone can ask a question?

A while back I posted a planter pix here looking for help with ID. No one here could help so I registered on the eBay pottery board and asked. After a few dead end suggestions a new poster gave me the name of an obscure Texas pottery. Googeled the name and found it....very collectible and way more expensive than we expected. I am sure I never would have found it without that post. That impressed me with that eBay board. You have to check in in a regular basis to keep your membership and I most likely have lost mine but maybe should activate it again.

Paloma, This is the page for the general Pottery/Porcelain/Glass group. There are specialized groups but I think this is the one I joined.

The planter we had was unmarked and any search for the description brought up so many hits it was useless. I was really impressed when someone gave us the obscure pottery's name.
