Did you find another shipper to take DHL place for large items?
Thanks

Ugh, in short no. I still plan on using DHL Express for packages under 120 pounds but I'm still in the investigative stage for a good economical alternative for packages up to 200 pounds. I need to call UPS about this. I know they have a freight division but not sure how it works.

I have come to one conclusion though, DHL Danzas is not a option. They do not do residential delivery and the majority of my ebay sales are to non comercial address's.

As soon as I find a suitable alternative I'll post it here.

Well I just got off the phone with "Brown" (UPS) and they sent me to their UPS Supply Chain Solutions division. Once again they look to be set up kind of like DHL Danzas, that being not set up for residential delivery. They will deliver to a residential address but there is a $45.00 residential delivery surcharge, YIKES!!! I think my neck is starting to get sore from all the head shaking I have been doing over this problem.

I am begining to get the feeling that we are just plain screwed for anything over 150 pounds, or 120 pounds through DHL. What a PITA!!

Yeah I saw something about UPS Freight on their website today.
I guess I'm not as bad off as you are - most of what I need to ship is under 100 lbs but too big. I guess Greyhound will be my new best friend for awhile.
Maybe we should start a company call MYEbay door to door - we could make some real money.

Ebay Door to Door, hey, now there's a idea. Let me know when you have it up and running, I'll be your first customer.

I still can't understand why DHL did this. Seems like they (like ebay tends to do) shot themselves in the foot with this move. They were the only game in town for a regular type ground service at reasonable rates for packages up to 200 pounds. I wouldn't have even minded if they had just increased the rates some in the 150-200 pound range. They still would have been alot cheaper than freight. When I spoke with my local DHL driver yesterday about this he was to say the least stunned. He had not heard about this at all. He said the majority of the packages he delivered were large very heavy box's. He's now worried if he will loose his job due to the huge decrease in packages that will need to be delivered.

What in the %$&@ !!!! I just got off the phone with DHL a minute ago and I am now told we can ship up to 150 pounds, NOT 120 pounds. Also maximum package dimensions remain at the maximum of 108 inch in length and overall package (girth + length) of 165 inch's.

Basically they have only droped the max weight from 200 for non day guarenteed ground to the standard day guarenteed ground service at 150 pounds. In other words, they removed the non day guarenteed day service. So it's not as bad as I was led to believe in the first place. I think the poor DHL operators were as lost as we were.

That's funny - maybe they did a rethink. I just went to their site and put in the dimensions and it gave me a price for ground. I did the same item last week and it would not allow ground - just 2nd day at over $300.

Long ago an economical way to send things was via Greyhound Bus. Is that still an option???

Don't think there run by ebay, at least not yet I think they were origanly a German based company.

The customer service rep I spoke with this afternoon said that they got a memo about the shipping standards today. I think the information was just a little slow getting down the food chain.

It is a big relief that I can still do up to 150 pounds, 108 length and 165 total package dimensions with them. I really didn't want to have to go back to the United Package Smashers.

Grayhound Bus, not me. If I want to ship a package I want a real package handling company to do it from pick up to delivery, not a bus driver.

The only thing a bus driver knows is how to open a door and kick it out to the curb.
Og course you know there could be a German connection to eBay. They do act like the Gestapo at times.
